Tamiya TRF417

I have noticed there is play between the swing shaft and the spool cup. This is not from wear. You can basically rock the wheel back and forward. Is the play normal or should i try using blades. The manual doesnt say to use a blade for the spool cup.

I have TRF511 with upgrade set. The TRF417 diff is too wide for 511/501/DB01. You need to get TA05/TA06 front ball diff unit instead. But the softer aluminum outdrives will not last and it's a little too short for the universal so it might pop-out on landing.
You can get TA06 steel gear diff set and also the DB01 gear diff outdrives (slightly longer). I run my TRF511 with dual gear diff and double-slipper drive.

I just managed to get hold of a 511-upgrade outdrive (only one pair) for my DB01. I was trying to figure out how to build a second one since I still have the crappy half-plastic diff at the front. The TA06 diff sounds interesting, but I would def be worried if they were shorter than the standard ones.
PM me if you are interested in selling your upgrade-set outdrives (since your using gear diffs).

Only other alternative I can think of are the carbon battery stoppers from the original 417, the 417x holders are too heavy. I think VBC holders work too

I think we went through about 2 pages of discussion about this not too long ago . I personally don't like using the tape, but as far as performance - it works just fine. Get the proper tape and that battery aint going anywhere. I'm still quite fond of the velcro that Top and Team Magic u.se

Black Gear diff vs White gear diff
Hi 417 fanatics, I have a question about the gear diffs on the market for the 417.
There is a cheaper version Gear diff Unit II which has white casing and single o rings, and a slightly more expensive version with double o rings and black casing.
Which unit is better in terms of reliability and also leaks less ?

Enjoying the 417 v5 on carpet. Feels good out of the box. C hubs are very fragile tho. Broken 2 already. 1 hit was big and the other was not at all.

new raceberry topdeck
Hi guys,
I just received my new Raceberry topdeck. It is a new, stronger version, that was just released. On the bill it days "Raceberry TRF417 topdeck 2,6" whatever that means...
As you can see in the picture it's wider in the front part and a bit narrower in the rear part, especially where it splits around the spur gear. And that's exactly how it feels when I bend it. It flexes mostly in the back part.
While Toni couldn't tell me exactly what the expected / felt differences in car behaviour are, he said that "the boys" all use the new topdeck. Well, I'll hopefully try tomorrow...
