Ed will regret this decision when he sees his first Australian track. The airbus700 is not the car for our conditions. It's ok, I have an old 416 I can lend him for nationals

Hello RCTech, admittedly not a regular poster here but a regular reader. I was hoping to get some info on the 417X bearings...

I've been giving my 417X it's first full strip down and rebuild (since Jan) and noticed one of my rear outer wheel bearings is shot, the other getting that way and the two front outer wheel bearings are starting to feel gritty. All the other bearings are as smooth as when I first built the kit.

I remember reading in this thread that the 417X bearings are the best and they should out last the car and there is no need to upgrade them etc. So have I done something wrong here? Should I have been cleaning and oiling the bearings somehow?

Now is it worth trying to restore these bearings if it is even possible to do such a thing? If so how do I do it?

And what bearings should I buy to replace these ones. I'd rather pay out for something nice that will last a long time rather than cheap out on something that needs replacing often.

Oh and if it helps I race indoors only in 21.5T (beginner class) so I crash quite a bit but not too hard due to lower speeds. I'm not a great driver but I like to keep my car at it's best and take pride in my wrenching.

Bearings go bad all the time. Buy them cheap and replace them the second they don't seem perfect.

I use q-tips as an applicator, definitely round the sharp edges, I use emery cloth, don't forget to round the slots where the battery tape goes through! Then apply the CA, make sure to do it in a well ventelated area, the fumes can be overwhelming! Better safe than sorry!

And what brand bearings do you guys propose? And do they come as a packaged 417 kit? I've got 2 or 3 that needs more attention than the rest. New ones would help a lot.

I typically just buy clutch bearings for 1:8 off-road. They are a lot cheaper than "true" Tamiya or Xray bearings, and they are often the same size. Just get those with oil instead of grease.

I use the arena ceramic bearings from rcmarket. They are cheap and last a long time

In the servo direction should not put the rubber screw? the manual does not show it, but it is not normal...

Do you mean the rubber bushes? They should not be used, the servo should be fixed directly to the mounts with no flex

Default CSO lower decks

Hy there!

Anybody tried the CSO lower decks wich are available for the 417?

They look like the 417x lower decks, but are nearly half the price.
So how is the quality of them compared to the Tamiya original ?
