Tamiya TRF417

mine did this too this too! felt like my geardiff locked up? I checked and did everything to figure out what it was! I checked to see if it was camber, changed to springs, checking play in wheel axels, but it still gave me issues? I solved mine by widening the rear by 6mm and using ball diff instead of geardiff.
high traction carpet, 17.5 modified
rear tamiya yellow springs, added 1 mm under the top link, stock shock position, 450 xray oil
front, tamiya blue springs, added 2mm under the top link, stock shock position
550 xray oil
droop 2 mm all around
thanks

Happy New Year's Eve and Happy New Car
Hi All,
Ran the 417X today for the first time and am pleased with how well it drives.
Straight out of the box with the exception of a putty gear diff in the front, split rear blocks, no motor mount cross brace, 500 shock oil, and F:24.0mm R:24.5mm droop. Good start so far...
Here's a video from earlier today of the the car being run at race pace for the first time (only second battery...first half-battery run was just a shake down). Thanks to Mark for filming and apologies to Maxepower for hacking the crap out of him
And here's a picture of the new Audi R8 LMS body in RedBull livery:
It's been a good year and I wish all of you a happy new one!

I replace the standard shims with 1 0.3m x 5mm shim, as these also have a smaller outer diameter, only a little bigger than the pins, so they don't cone.

What a nice body the Audi R8 GT3 and the wheels too. We should drop the Protoforms and start to use realistic Tamiya bodies and no more disc wheels in TC racing.

Happy New Year!
The body is indeed the new Tamiya R8 LMS set and the decals are from the old Audi A4 DTM 2005 Red Bull . The part number for the decals is 9805892.
Yes, the body was lowered one hole on the body posts and the wheels were spaced out for photos. If I ran it at that height, it would scrap everywhere, including the straight lol.

Just ordered a set of the arrowmax ecs's, do they bolt right up or need modification to fit??

If your gear diffs feel like they are locking up, check the shims inside. They have a tendency to cone, and then apply pressure to the big gears, making it feel like it's getting tighter. The reason they cone is that the shims are bigger in diameter than the pins, so any pressure is applied only to the inside of the shims.
I replace the standard shims with 1 0.3m x 5mm shim, as these also have a smaller outer diameter, only a little bigger than the pins, so they don't cone.
