id recommend even going smaller if you can find it. it will allow for more weight transfer front to rear --- thus more steering..

Thanks for the info. I have a couple 70t I could use.

I thought most 17.5 blinky guys were running the largest spur and pinion combo they could, to move the motor closer to the chassis(away from the axle). Obviously, that would result in less weight transfer off-power.... is this no longer desirable? Or is it like most other things, where it is track/setup/driver dependent?

its depends upon the tire combo. if you run the black/grey-low combo (which you should) it is the preferred setup.

Car looks good but you need the V2 left hub.

Yeah, I know. It's either that or the crc hub.
The esc is out of the car now and going to be on it's way to Tekin to see if they can revive it.

Default Sad times...

Okay, so I bought this Rebel thinking there would be somewhere to race with others, but San Antonio, TX is more into nitro offroad it would seem.

So I'm thinking that I have to sell it and I'm wondering if it worth investing some cash into it to make it more sell-able. The mods I'm thinking of include:
Rebuilding the diff with ceramic balls and new rings
Crc left hub
Crc servo mounts (not angled)
Enetti wheels (grey rr, black fr)
Blackart R8c body

It already has the V2 lower arms, RC12R5 axles, a 72t spur for 17.5blinky, and all of TOP's springs for fr, ctr, and sides. I've completely disassembled and rebuilt the car, cleaning everything and all.

I think with all this it would really be an ideal set up for someone getting into 1/12 for the first time (like me... assuming you have a place to race.) or someone wanting to step up their game.

Do you think it's worth investing for the new parts or should I just try and sell it as is?

It sucks but I have no where to run it other than a parking lot and that will just tear up the beautiful chassis. I'd rather it go to someone who can really use it.

So the question is: invest and sell or just sell as is?
Thanks for all your help guys.
Rob

You have quite a few avid 12th scalers in San Antonio. Jim Hartnett, Russell Hamilton, etc. In fact, they usually come down to Austin once or twice a month to run 13.5 Boosted @ our Hobbytown track.

If you don't mind driving an hour or so, you will definitely have some guys to race with. Unfortunately, the on-road programs in SA are basically dead now. But we run in South Austin every Sunday... and while we don't run 12th every weekend, if you post over on RCFiles that you want to come down and race 12th with us, you are bound to stir up some locals. We really only run asphalt 12th when the SA guys come down... but I know there are at least 5-6 locals with 12ths.

My vote is to keep it. Unless you are hell bent on having something to run each and every weekend locally. The unfortunate truth is that asphalt pan-car racing is sort of a niche market nowadays.....

Edit: I am running a Top Rebel as well, FWIW. My current car is setup for 17.5 carpet, but I have a backup car that is ready for asphalt racing. Id be happy to help you get the car sorted if you do come out and race

With my job, I work for Toyota, and all the overtime the odds if me ever getting up to Austin are slim to none. So I'm either stuck with a car that I dont run at all or I bail out and get something I can race with others. It's gotta go. This and a vintage rc10 and a tamiya ff01 are going up on the block to fund a new obsession. Lol

So whatcha think? Upgrade to sell or as is?

Honestly, it's not worth investing in upgrades if your just going to sell the car. You will never get 100% back of what you pay for upgrades, not all people will see the value in the upgrades you choose ... so sell it as is.

BTW .. Ceramic Diff Balls are stock in the kit and I believe most would choose the V2 rear hub over the CRC one since it is a TOP option part.
