Default Speedmerchant Rev 8

Hey all,

Its about time that we start a new thread for the new Speedmerchant Rev 8. The car has been under development for the last race season, and I'll let Bruce and Joel speak to the release date of the car and the new front end.

I ran the car for the first time at http://bushriverraceway.com/ today. We have the same layout down and I can compare laptimes with my Rev 7. I ran the old school front end on the car with same tires, rollout, batteries, and the same front springs, side springs, center shock set-up as the Rev 7. The new car is amazingly easy to drive. It has a tone of rear and front grip due to the long links, different pivot location, and front chassis cut-outs. The car was instantly 3 tenths faster than the Rev 7. At the end of the day, it ended up 5 tenths faster than the Rev 7. The biggest difference I noticed was the ability to drive the car hard in every corner, to include the sweeper.

This car has a ton of development in it, and when you can get your hands on it, you will not be disappointed.

Definitely the best 1/12th scale car I drove all day.

Here is the set-up I started with yesterday:

Front:
Tires- Jaco Blacks
Springs- Speedmerchant .21
Caster- 4 degrees
Camber- -1
Green tube spooge on the king pins

Center Spring: Silver
Shock Oil: 30 associated
No pod droop, pod was flat

Rear:
Tires Jaco Yellow
Damper Lube: Green Tube Spooge
Side Springs: 20's with the spring just touching the pod

Protoform AMR-12 body

Some things I'm going to try for next weekend:
- Different rear tires. i'm going to run Jaco Orange rears just because of the fuzzing at my local track.

Relocate the Orca Speedo sideways to allow for battery placement changes.

- Play with the pod droop, probably start at -1 degree.

- Red Tube Spooge in the dampers

There will be conversions from older cars with old pod plates. Rev 5/6 cars will just need to order a 3mm offset hub along with the conversion kit. Rev 7 cars will just need the new carbon pieces.

I'm trying to work on some renderings to show in a bit more detail the new car but have been busy.

It does look really good. The long links make it different to everything else. I'm looking forward to getting one of these for the winter season.

So is the Rev8 in stores yet? What is the best way to go about getting one? Where I run most guys run CRC or Top 1/12 be nice to see the SpeedMerchant car in the mix.

Nice build. I've noticed you and more than a few others run some angle in the steering links. Can you tell me what this does vs running them straight?

Thanks
