Tmo846

I just got a new Futaba 3pm mx 2.4g radio and receiver and Im wanting to know if I have to use a battery pack on it like with nitro or not? I have it hooked up the steering on it works fine but the throttle glitches and is not responsive like the steering is. Any idea's on what this might be? Do I still need to hook up a 2nd battery pack just for the power on the receiver like a nitro? Or do I have to bind the two together?
