Questions?? Tyre Trueing Mounted Donuts Help?

I have borrowed a tyre truer from a friend to do my GT wheels.

I have managed to do the basic trueing just fine, but as I bought the donuts on mounted wheels the foam sticks out over the end of the wheels.

Whats the best way of reducing that and getting the tyres level with the wheels, just use sandpaper on the edge the same as when rounding the edges.

a shortened pc of hacksaw blade or a coarse file..... put tape on the plastic/rim so you dont saw it.....then you can finish it w a sanding block.
