Default esc question

I have been searching for the answere to this question. A brushed esc is rated by the motor limits. For example is the esc states that it has a 15t limit, then it will operate 15t and higher turn motors correct? Sure, it could run 14 turn with the correct gearing but it would eventually burn up. I am not an expert when it comes esc's Thanks for the input, Bob

Your sample description is correct....It will operate 15T and motors with more turns.
