Preferred Servos for 1/10th on-road?
 

I was looking for some referrals on servos that people like to use in there 1/10 on-road cars. I come from 8th scale off-road and the spare servos I have are on the larger than necessary size and way more power than needed. If there is a speed and torque preference please tell me what the window is. Thanks guys.

1/8th cars use standard sized servos so they should fit quite happily in a touring car.

You do find that the low-profile servos (from Futaba, KO or Sanwa) are quite popular in touring but that isn't because standard servos are too big, it's just that the low-profile servos give you a bit more flexibility with the electronics layout and weight distribution.

Good specs for a servo are 0.1s speed and 6kg torque.

The extra torque of an 1/8th servo will not damage the car (assuming you set the end points correctly).

I noticed a lot of servos are using the term "Digital" now. Are these types of servos ok to use with my radio system? I have a Futaba 3pks with a Spektrum Pro system. All of my rx's are Spektrum Pro Rx except for 1.

I liked the Futaba S9452 based on cost and specs or the Futaba S9551 Low Profile servo.

Digital servos will run fine with all gear (it's just the way that they process their position internally).

Sometimes you get problems running older analogue servos with HRS (high response speed) radios.

The Futaba's you mention are solid choices. You will have no regrets. I've been running a 9451 and 9550 in my cars for years.
