Default Best ESC for MOD and 17.5?

I usually run mod, the lrp sxx tc spec is great.

But sometimes I am forced to run the slow 17.5 class and all the ramping guys get me on the straight

what ESC will work great for both?

I have had and seen too many tekins fail in mod so not that....

maybe:
lrp sxx stockspec

Novak kinetic

Orca
??

I always do that with the speed passion/hobbywing esc. I'm going to try the stock software in mod but turn off the turbo and see if it functions the same as the mod software.

It depends on what motor you typically run in mod. If you are running a milder motor like a 6.5 or milder, the SXX Stock Spec could be pretty good.

Jay i believe there is a NOVAK KINETIC on its way to SPEEDWORLD with your name on it its good down to 3.5. and i proved it can win in 17.5 as well. You dont even have to bring your lap top to change settings.

Paul L used a 4.0 with a SXX SS at Reedy (I'm pretty sure).

If I can use a 4.0 with my SXX Comp, then anything is possible

My vote is for Tekin Rs Pro. With the new v208 software, you do not need a laptop to switch between stock mode or mod mode (they called it 'sensored' mode and 'dual' mode in Tekin terms). Just a few press on the buttons on the ESC.

My 2nd choice is the Hobbywing/SP v2.0 versions. Although you will need a computer to switch between stock and mod firmwares.

I have not tried brands like LRP or Novak so no comments on them.

It was always going to happen, was just a matter of time. The guy asking the question clearly states NO Tekin as they simply are not capable of running mod but was never going to stop one of the tekin fan club suggesting one anyway.Sorry for finding this amusing. I don't know why i do but I do.

If you don't ming its size the MMP is capable mod and 17.5.

Actually all you need to do is disable the supercharger function using the small LCD card. You can run mod or stock with the same software and switch between 3 setups using the card.

I second that remark on the tekin , nice for stock but uncapable of mod racing...

I'm pretty happy with the hobbywing 120A I purchased some time ago, didnt thermal yet and adjustments are easy with the lcd programmer.
And for that price!

The best and most versatile is undoubtedly the Xerun 120 V 2.1 is the top for both the two categories

Sorry for suggesting a Tekin, but it has worked for me so far in Stock & in Mod racing.

Actually in this part of the world, I have seen a lot of blown SXX running mod. So I think its mostly wrong user inputs (ie gear ratio, wrong boost settings etc) more than the actual product not capable of running a certain class.

Anyways, the Hobbywing or SP 120A is the best bet if you decide not to pick the Tekin.

My vote also go to the Hobbywing 120A. Good, cheap and works great!

Hobbywing 120A for modified and 60A for stock, if you buy two you will pay them cheaper or same as one Tekin or one LRP/Nosram. And you can buy in two color so you know what you have put in car
