Foam Tire Truer - Best bang for your buck - Which One?
I am guessing that when purchasing new 1/12th scale mounted tires, that they will come in a diameter larger than what will get the best racing performance.
If this is true, the fast guys are cutting them down.
I am not looking to buy a $500.00 tool.
Just curious what you have used at home (really do not need a track side version if more expensive).
Can you recommend a good, yet economical tire truer? What diameter tires are you running in 1/12th scale?

I bought the 3racing one last year, works very well and pretty cheap.
Only downside is when you install the hudy carbide cutter, the mm scale is off...

save your money and look for a used manual one. I've seen several team cobra tire truers for ~$50 used. It makes your tires nice and round just like any other tire truer on the market. The more expensive ones are just for convenience.

to save money, get the 3 racing truer and a hudy cutting bit. For the money you saved, u can buy more tires.

3 racing
The 3 racing one is the same as the eagle racing scorpion and the intigy auto truer.. I just recently got the eagle scorpion and it works very well. Hudy looks nice but the cheaper ones do a good job.

I'm assuming this truer (3Racing RC Model HKU-2001/V3 Tire Truer 2014 tyre grinding machine) does 1/12th scale foam tires????
Thanks,
Rob

I have an ofna and it has more power than the intigy, so it can do a tire in fewer passes. Auto is the way to go. Really a time saver if you are doing a bunch of tires.
The Hudy is probably the best, but also the most money. A good cutting bit, Hudy, Crc, or bsr is also a must. Much better finish than a cut hacksaw blade.

Ive blown up a hudy easily enough. Nothing special in that brand im afraid. But i will say if you can find an old school integy.... our club beats on a clubbies all season every season and it has never skipped a beat. Any truer needs a better cutter though and the hudy is not exempt. Whichever one you buy, invest in a crc arbor and cutter head.

I have a ofna automatic feed for countless years, I use the hudy wheel adaptors as they fit better and more true.
