Screw rust.....

A bunch of flat heads in my XXX-S have oxidized(sp?) pretty heavily. Does the rust make the screws weaker or damage them in any way? Should I replace them? I have tons of extra screws, but I don't want to waste perfectly good ones.....

I have soaked my rusted screws in wd40 over night. Then in the morning i wipe them, then blow them off with motor spray. if they are still rusty, I bring them over to a buffing wheel and polish them up.
