C'mon this really is sad. I've been running the serpent adjustable shocks(almost the same) for ages now and they are easy to rebuild and nice and smooth. If you really don't like them move to tamiya flurine coated units and never look back.

if you will read the post, in fact if you will go to my previous posts in the xray thread, ull see how i love the car, its just that in the other thread regarding the setting of camber, the building of xray shocks became a but of jokes, that's the reason why i started this thread.
by the way, have u tried the xray shcoks urself? hope ur also speaking from experience as regards xray shocks

I must admit I cheated with my FK shocks... I took the alloy ones from my TC3 along with the fittings...

Pre-thread the eyelets with a 3mm screw before you put the shaft in. They are a b*tch to get on but once they are there I've had no problems....they are worth the initial pain!!!

This is what i do.
I use a cutter plier and hole it on to the threaded end.
Hold it at the finishing thread and not at the start of the thread.
Hold it tight and try to turn the eyelet in.
Once the eyelet is in a little, use a plier covered with cloth and grab the eyelet.
Keep turning the eyelet till it meets up with your cutter.
P/s : Use a small cutter. A bigger cutter and you will actually cut off the shaft.

Oh yes....if you pre-thread...make sure you clamp the eyelet with a nice large mole grip or vice!!

The problem with using side-cuts is it causes a stress riser and the shock can snap there as Serpent shock shafts are among the hardest-but most brittle. Thats not to say you shouldnt use side-cuts-just be aware of the problem that causes. The leather trick is about the best. I also have a pair of bigger needle nose pliers that I grinded smooth and I often use them to hold shock shafts. MInd you I have to hold on twice as hard.

I made a little shock tool that works great.I took a piece of 5/8" diameter brass and cut it 1/8 of an inch thick.Milled a slot to the center that will slide over the shaft.All i do is grip that with a regular pair of pliers and no slipping,no marks on the shaft.Works great on all shocks.
