How is the new wc chassi, what benefits does it have in handling compared to the old one? (other than being more narrow)

Check out my latest Indoor Setup from Senden on PetitRC. Did a just for fun run with foam tires (26mm front and rear) and the car was even more awesome! You can't follow the car with your eyes so fast! I think I even broke the lap record

Hi Guys,
I have a question regarding the spur and pinon size on the tc6.1. I have mounted a silver can (Tamiya 540) motor and I faced the same problem of the bushing and the screws not lining up so added a stack of washers upto 5mm as spacers and I have installed the motor but I have a 72t 48p spur gear and I have 24, 25, 26t pinions and non of them touch the spur gear So I need to buy a bigger spur gear and around 3 pinions.
I am looking at the following spur pinion sizes :
Spur-pinion = drive ratio
81-31 = 5.22
81-30 = 5.40
81-29 = 5.58
81-28 = 5.78
87-33 = 5.27
87-32 = 5.43
87-31 = 5.61
87-30 = 5.8
What combination should I get, any suggestions ?
I am very new to racing and still learning to drive so I am looking at a 5.7 ratio to start with ...

Really depends on what your track is like i.e. long and flowing, tight and twisty, also depends on the tamiya 540 motor you have.
Our Track is a mixed track and some guys are running from 3.3-4.17, just depends on your motor.

The tc6.1 manual shows what spur/pinion combinations will fit:
Beginners at our track need to use a ratio of 6.1 or higher, so you can use the 87 or 80 tooth spur with the appropriate pinion with the Johnson / mabuchi 540 silver can motor as shown above.
Then when you want to go faster, you can go back to your 72 tooth spur with a 36-41 pinion, but not lower than 3.50 ratio, as the brushed motor will burn out quickly.
After that you will need to look at investing in a brushless motor / esc, eg. 21.5 turn, depending on the classes at your local track.
I'm still racing with my 540 silver can motor, so I use the Spec-r motor heat sink (instead of using washers/spacers which is a hassle):

and have the complete set of yeah racing 48 pitch pinions - 21t-38t:

Just throwing this out there but since my LHS had no battery tape, we used a Losi 22 battery strap(velcro), cut the plastic end off the loop and slid the carbon fiber battery hold down piece through the loop.
Can someone verify it though? Don't take this to be gospel just yet, he had it in the back and said it was from a 22. From the pics the 22 strap looks too short. Spektrum makes long ones also(found on Amain)

I've used the Yeah racing Velcro battery strap for 6 months and it works fine, however under hard impact from the opposite side I have had the battery pop out a few times:
