I think Kevin means the blue aluminum shims. I'm using 2mm / 1mm / .5mm RR and 1mm FR. You get a little less than 3 degrees per side (on the Hudy setup).

hi, as to the arm mount shims, the book does not tell you that they are 1mm, 1.5mm and 2mm ... but with these washers, once placed, you get 1 º, 1.5 º and 2 º, that bone the unit of measurement are degrees, not millimeters ...

I run the Alluminum ride height space from 12r5 for the arm mount shims ! I use 1mm and 3.5mm in the rear which is just a bit under 3 Degree of rear toe, and I run 2mm in the front.

Questions?? the diffs

Hi all
quick question.Im building the diffs and have compressed the spring 5 /6 time and the diff thrust bolt wont thread to the nut on the otherside ??? .the spring ,spacer then nut are all present but either way spool or ball they wont go together ???? should I get a big pair of pliers out (LOL) .
I've built so many cars but hope someone can help ,I dont wont to damage anything or have to buy parts already ...

I ran into this when building my TC5 diffs the first time. What I did was grab my 4mm ball hex driver and use the end of that to press on the t-nut, then pressed hard on the other side with the normal 2mm hex driver, and I was able to get the screw to start threading into the nut.

I think a 3mm ball driver would also work, but I didn't try it.

Everyone laughs when they see my vice grips in my pit bag, but I put the diff spring in vice grip for 30minutes-60minutes before I put the diff together and then it goes together without a fuss.

Make sure to check them for tightness after a couple of runs.

I just helped a friend build one this last weekend and he had the same issue. Make sure that the nut is fully seated in the black plastic holder. I used a 3.5mm allen driver to push the nut fully into the black plastic holder. Place the plastic holder on a hard surface and put the nut inside and then press down with the allen driver while pressing on the nut so it fully seats the nut and you are ready to go.

as the others just said that nut needs to be well seated in the plastic, it goes down i would say 3mm at least, so you can see plastic side walls after the nut, if the nut is flush with the top of the plastic its not down far enough.
