Damn, $50/pair!

Have you thought about using a set of plastic wheels and trying to paint them with a chrome or brushed alloy effect? Normally I would never paint wheels, but if they are going to be for shelf queen and picture use only?

Very nice, love the GTP2e. If I ever decided to convert my Jammin back to off-road I would definitely pick up one of these.

Not sure yet Chief.
I am going to start with a 15t and see how it goes from there. Im not looking for speed but rather something that can get me around the track with consistent lap times.

I would say your lap times will get much more consistent once you get some wires on the ESC and motor, LOL!

Running the stock body or another? What kind of paint are you doing? Do you paint yourself or have someone else paint it? Do I ask too many questions?

HA!! Yeah I agree with you about the wires. Just couldn’t wait to talk a pic and post it. I don’t paint myself other then rattle can. I am going to run the stock body. I used a 1/4 drill bit on the foam bumper and drilled new holes to bring the bumper closer to the front diff. Once I did that the body fits like a glove with the foam bumper.

I had mine at 17/48 and it was too damn fast. I dropped down to 16/48 and it seems more controllable. I'll see how she does this Sunday if all goes well. If not, I've got a 15T, I can put in as well. It's always trial and error. Are those slicks Sweeps or OFNA. If they are OFNA, I'll let you know that I tried those out and it was like driving on ice. I was all over the place. The treaded stock are much better and if you go with the Sweeps 45s or 50s, you'll really enjoy how the car handles.

Nothing wrong with "rattle can". That's how I paint all my lids. It's not fancy but it works for me.

Here's a photo of my three favorite rigs. I'm sure you can pick out my OFNA DM-1 Spec Tekno Conversion.

NO... they are Ipanema 50s. I only use them when my car is at home so my good tires stay fresh locked up in a ziploc bag. Once race day hits.... Out come the Sweeps!!!

I ran into a small issue with my build tonight and wonder if anyone can help.

I mounted up the shocks for the first time, just to test fit and get an idea of mounting positions, ride height, droop, etc. The problem is that there is no droop. The car doesn't "settle in" at all when put on the ground, not even 1mm. The wheels stay at the same height as if you had it lifted off the ground.

I did this test with lipos, motor, ESC, servo, and RX all in the vehicle, so aside from the body it was at RTR weight. I am using springs that are about 28 lb/in with the shock collars adjusted all the way to the top of the shock. Now to me this says the springs are too firm, but I spent A LOT of time researching spring rates for 1/8 on-road and everything I found tells me that 28 lb/in is on the soft end of the spectrum, and that some people use springs going up to 40-60 lb/in or even higher in some cases. That is why I am confused. The numbers always seemed high to me, but everything I found said that was what to use. But now I try it and it seems to firm.

Any insight is appreciated. I have some springs on the way that are between 18-25 lb/in so I guess I should try those next?

This upgrade made a huge difference (thanks!), even with 1 disk and that leads me to a question. Do I need both disk? Seems to be OK with 1 and not fading, but it's also winter time. So do I need both disk, or can I save the rotational mass and run 1?

Thanks again!

Those are Max Velocity shock towers, I found out about your shock towers after the fact.
