Can someone give me a brief rundown of what changes will be needed setup wise when converting a 1/8 buggy to 1/8 on-road? I have an idea of diff setup, and a little bit about shock setup, but need to know things like caster, camber, toe, anti-squat, droop. Even if someone could post a setup sheet for any on-road vehicle like the GTP, DM-1, IGT1/2, etc. just so I could get an idea. I searched for DM-1 and GTP setup sheets, but can only find the blank ones that are in the vehicle manuals.

I got my Jammin buggies all torn down and cleaned and went through all the parts and tossed out whatever was worn out. Ordered a few things I needed new and as soon as those come in the on-road rebuild will begin.

Great to hear another 1/8 on-road conversion is on its way! Electric or gas? Were u able to mount your body of choice yet? I saw your post on the other GT based thread. Tires are very critical component you didn't mention. Many good tires are out there (Sweeps, Ipanema, PMT, ect). You really need to limit the shocks and/or change to shorter shock shafts and have ride height between 10-15mm. I'd start w/ 1 degree of negative camber on all 4 and tune from there. Try 1 degree of toe out in front to gain steering if your neutral or toed in. I hope this helps...post some pics so we can see where you're at!
Next GT8 race is in Corona Hobby Town Jan 16th! Come and check us out! Nitro or electric.

Most of the guys we’ve raced with on the tracks, using stand up shocks in there cars, run something like this should get you close:

Front diffs 10K to 100K, Rear diffs 1K to 30K, both depend on driving style & track layout.

Front ride height 9 to 10mm measured under steering posts, Rear ride height 10 to 12mm under diff.

Front droop 3mm to 6mm, Rear droop 6mm to 12mm off lower outer arm, with shocks & sway bar disconnected.

Front camber -1 to -2 degrees, Rear camber -2 to -3 degrees

Front toe out 0 to +1.5, Rear toe in 2 to 3 degrees

Shock oil: 60W to 100W front/rear depending on driving style & track layout.

Good luck, have fun, hope it helps.

Thank you guys for all the advice! That should get me where I need to be. Unfortunately I don't have any tracks even remotely close to me (Northern Michigan) so I don't race, but I still have lots of fun running in parking lots.

I will be running electric. Have an LRP Vector 8 2800kv I want to try for now until I can buy a Tekin. KV is higher than I'd like but it should be good on 3S and I can still gear it for 40mph on 4S. I will use the EagleTree data logger to compare 3S geared for 40mph to 4S geared for 40mph and see the comparison. A Mamba Max Pro is the ESC.

I did get some tires/wheels. I have one set of Ofna belted radials that I got in a trade, and one set of GRP Rally (Soft B compound) that I found in the FS/FT section brand new. I want to try a set of Ipanema too, that was my original plan, but I came across the others and couldn't pass up the deals.

Still looking for a body, but it's mostly lack of money stopping me there! I love the Ipanema Warrior, but then I also noticed IGT Hobbies started bringing in the Deltaplastik bodies, and they are very tempting! If someone had an old practice body they wanted to sell, that would be a big help to me, doesn't have to be pretty, just a temp until I can buy a nice new one.

Finally got a short video of it running. I plan on getting it to the track this week for some better video.

Nice, that thing is quick!

What speed do you have it geared for?

It has the 2-speed and 2650 motor. It should run 60mph on 4s and 80 on 6s.

And thanks!

Wow that is wild, I have my off-road 1/8 stuff geared for 40mph and that seems fast to me!

What do you have to say about 2-speed with electric setups? Is it stable on the shift or does it want to break loose?

The clutch is ultra smooth and as far as shifting, I can hardly tell that it does at all.
