I just got my PMTs, the wheels aren't that ugly, just plain looking. The tire is hard but somewhat gummy....if that's the best way to describe them. I can see these getting really good traction once you get them warmed up.

I guess, I'll just run them for now and break them in....at least get the shine off.

Has anyone ran foam tires on their rig? If so are they better than stock tires? I have a chance to get a set of foams tonight.

Few people run foams.. Ofna, GQ, BSR all have foams for these cars.

Everyone has been swearing by PMTs, second choice would be Sweeps.

Wow!!! Your LHS has PMTs in stock??? Nice!!! None of the LHS in my area carry any tires or wheels for onroad 1/8 scale. I have to rely on ordering online.

Here's what my PMTs look like on my DM1-S:

I'm running plastic spur also, no problems here. I also agree it's quieter and I think better for running on-road to be honest. All of the 1/8 on-road cars use plastic spurs in the 2spds, why not on a center diff?

The only thing that isn't so cool about running a plastic spur on a diff is how much trouble it is to change out if it gets jacked up. I wish the diffs were made to use demountable spur gears instead of having it be an integral part of the diff. It would also be cool if the diffs used an O-ring to seal it up instead of a gasket which needs sealant to not leak.

I've got a metal (aluminum) spur gear and I don't think it's loud at all. It came with the center diff (JAMMIN X2 CRT PRO) and I really didn't even think about changing it out to a plastic one. I have even had a second center diff and it came the same way.

I know on my Losi 8E buggy I tried the metal spur gear on the center diff and that was really loud so I went back to plastic. I find my DM1-S really quite. I guess I'll have to see how everyone else's sounds in Corona.
