I use 5S 5000-30C lipo from Turnigy, mamba 2200, gear 46/18, and the car runs pretty well, better acceleration than a GT-gas and equal top speed.

1. It doesn't matter if you have a Hot Bodies, Associated, Mugen, X-Ray... There are no specific parts to covert an 1/8 scale buggy to a GT8.
There are kits to convert nitro buggies to electic which gets you half way there.

I think the Losi Nitro 8ight buggy can be converted to GT8 pretty easily, a few have been done and they work quite well. Losi offers an electric conversion kit.

There are also a couple kits to convert nitro 1/8 on-road cars to electic.

Hello from France,

Here's some pictures of the first round of the French GT8 Challenge held in Castelsarrasin.

I won the race with my brand new HobbyTech STR8 GTe.

And, here's the pictures of our second race in Toulouse.

I set the Pole Position and the fastest lap of the day. But in final, a poor motor connector made some cut off in the electronics!!!

The new HobbyTech STR8 GTe is a great car!!!
Here's my review..

Au revoir.

I just destroyed my first motor ever yesterday. I was running my Leopard 4068 1800kv on 5s with 25/44 gearing and I think I may have even had the current limited to 80% on the MMM. After about 7 minutes of heavy big parking lotting running the car started cogging so bad that the esc let out some smoke. The motor read 280 degrees fahrenheit. Turns out I messed up the rotor, so it was having a very hard time spinning (though I could turn it with my hand). I just ordered a Tekin T8 Truggy 1550kv to replace it. I went with the truggy motor because these cars use some serious energy displacing the air they do when traveling 60+mph. The 76mm truggy can compared to the 68mm buggy version should have more torque and run more efficiently on 5s. I've got some GRP soft rally premounts on the way as well.

I just ran the Tekin 1550 truggy motor for the first time. I was running the car fairly hard in a big parking lot using Sweep 45s on the rear and 55s on the front, 5s, and 25/44 gearing. The motor got up to 200 degrees fahnrenheit but no higher than that. Maybe I should have gone with the 1350 for cooler temperatures?

You're over gearing the car. I used to race 5S with 1700 KV. Gearing was 44/18!

You're going to burn up motors and eventually your battery pack is going to balloon because you're drawing too much current.

Default Need advise

I have a few cars that I can convert to GT8. I will probably convert a Slash 4x4 Platinum edition first. Other options are a Jammin X1CR FTE, a Losi 810 electric (Similar to a Losi SCTE with a slightly smaller chassis length, and a Hyper 10SC. I will not race any of these, but will use them on an onroad track.

Will the Slash be somewhat competitive to 10 scale sedans?

I have plenty of parts for the Jammin including xtra front shock towers and shocks. Will mobil 1 grease be heavy enough? I will use a front shock tower and front shocks on the rear if possible..

I think the Hyper 10SC will be a rocket as the car is light. ... so I would probably run it on 3s...with a 3800kv motor...

I have a ton of old off road tires that I could use, but don't know if they will provide enough traction...They cant be used for off road anymore. Any suggestions?

I have 2s, 3s, 4s batts. and have 540, 550, and 1/8 scale motors such as 2200kv and MMM's. For the Slash I will prob. run it on 2S with the veleneon 3500kv motor, and the Jammin on 4s with the 2200kv setup...

Steer me in the right direction please..

The track is medium length with some 180 turns... and is prepped with grape soda...

Need advice, not advise...typo...

I started utilizing the FAST steering/throttle settings on my Futaba 4pl and have turned the throttle speed way down. This keeps the motor from popping up to WOT constantly. I have definitely helped combat the heat issue, but I don't really want to drop gearing. That's why I went with such a low kv truggy motor.

Ok, so I got the itch to wanna put one of these together. I have an 8TE. Is there any way I could convert that without having to convert it to a buggy first? If not, what would be a budget car? Also, where do you buy the bodies from? I tried searching to no avail.

Thanks.

My car is now doing great, thanks to upping to 6s and dropping the gearing to 22/44. I've noticed that my car hops when under heavier accel. I can't tell if it's just the rear of the car or the front as well, but I've gone thinner on the shock fluids in trying to prevent this hopping. Any info is appreciated!

The off road track here has been muddy lately, so I set my Mugen MBX6 SCT up to do some pavement pounding...

It was more of a drift machine, but even still, I am hooked. Pulled the trigger on an Ofna late model, should be here Friday.

My truck was geared for about 39mph, and it seemed plenty fast on our on road track which is an old go cart track with only a short straight and lots of big turns. So I'm thinking I will set this thing up to run mid to high 40s, 550 4 pole 2800(SCTE RTR motor) on 3 cell. Don't really care about high speed runs, just want to connect some turns and maybe wag the tail a bit. We don't really have too many of these cars around here, so I doubt we will ever see a class come together, but man, tons of fun, and good for some down time from the off road.

I'll get some pics and vids of the thing as soon as I have something worth showing.
