Hello from France,
in BL class, chassis are Hobao Hyper9e, Hobbytech STR8e Rally, Ofna GTP2e, XRay XB8/808...
In nitro class, chassis are the same..
Hobby Wing is the most popular brand. Around 2000/2250 kV.
Most Batteries are 4S/5.000/40C.
Tyres are the same for everybody: HobbyTech Challenge tyre = real rubber, hard compound. A marked set is provided by organisation in the morning. You must run with them all the day.
High down force bodies are banned!!
4 rounds of qualifications, 7 minutes: controller settings can be agressive = same performance as the nitro!!!
3 rounds of final, 9 minutes: lower settings... But performance lower than nitro.
Grease Dif = 80k/rigid/30k
SNR: my car is the yellow Porsche with the black wing (1mn45 to 2mn30). I finished second of this race. I set the fastest lap (2/10 faster than nitro!!) and the best 9mn mark!! But I only managed to win one final, the very fast blue Peugeot 205 turbo16 GroupB won the others due to the trafic...
For the moment I raced 2 times with my Ofna/SNR Ultra GTP2e and I have now the track lap records. Faster then the nitro cars!!!!
Au revoir.

The tires most of us use are pmt rally06. The tires he uses are pmt kronos(unmounted) made for 1/8 onroad cars that have been discontinued for atleast 2-3 years. They have similar compound and firmness of the rally06, but they have the dimensions of sweep 1/8 GT tires (which are wider and taller.) I've spent a good amount of time searching for these particular tires, but to no availability! It would be nice to get a chassis though. His cf goodies are top notch!
I'll keep everyone posted!

He made my shock towers for my TRF conversion and I am having him make me a 12 scale mini chassis as well.. he does good work!

Hello from France,
during our last "Rally Game / GT South West Challenge", I'd test the Capacitor Pack from Castle Creation.
http://www.castlecreations.com/produ...-cap-pack.html
What I can say is that: there's no gain in mileage!!!
So???
The race was held in Pau, a little permament track designed for touring cars. A lot of small accelerations very hard for electronics especially for the batteries at the end of the heat!!!
And the batteries were cooler than the previous race with the same amount of enrergy in them.
For me, it's a good protection especially in GT or OnRoad class.

First I'd like to say this thread is awesome.
I currently run 1/10 scale onroad (tc6).
I want to run a 1/8 scale off road buggy, but later desire to make it a GT8.
Was thinking of buying a used hyper9e.
What would I need to make it a GT8 when I go that route?
Also any other good 1/8 already electric buggies that double as good GT8 converts with easy to fit bodies?
Sorry if its been posted already, I've read through some numerous pages and didn't get a clear idea of what it takes to convert an already good electric buggy to GT8.
Thanks again!

1. New shock towers, buggy towers are taller and narrower, you will need something wider
2. New rear shocks.. most of us run front shocks all the way around
3. Body mounts - some sort of body mount for GT body, we use Kyosho, Ofna or Losi
4. Front foam bumper.. again you can use one from Kyosho, Ofna or Losi
5. On road tires: eg. PMT or Sweeps

Looks like Novak is getting into the 1/8 scale ESC game. It's called the Activ8, and it has 4 capacitors on it.. So there's no need for an additional board from castle
