OC Circuit's hobby town USA race went just as planned! Races started early, we all had a great time and all mains completed before anything hit! Another DM1 ran with us too! Its great to see new entries in the GT8 class! The next GT8 race is @ Huntington Beach Surf City CA Dec 4th.

Thats a nice lOoking 8ight you got there. I have a few questions though regarding setup. I also own a 8ight GTP. What gears you running? Is it a large track you run on? Two speed?? I'd like to see it with the body off.

Thanks.

I can't remember the dimensions of the track we run on but it's definitely a good size and large enough to let these monsters get up and go!!!

I don't run a 2 speed but I have seen in the NITRO GT thread of some that do. I use a 45 tooth Spur/16 tooth pinion paired to a 2650kv Tekin Motor/ESC and 4S Lipo.

As anyone done a full setup sheet on these???? I'm very close to building mine (as I'm sure others are since it's the 'off season' in a lot of the country) and it would sure be helpful. The Losi platform seems to be the easiest to base on!

Thanks!

Default 1/8 ESC & motor

Looking to get into 1/8 GT electric.

What are you guy's thoughts on the Hobbywing Xerun 150A sensored esc and motor? Is it any good?

The difference in cost between this and the Tekin esc and motor combo is about $70. That could pay for the cost of a 4s Gens Ace Lipo pack.

Your comments and opinions would be appreciated.

Also, I have CEN Matrix FRE buggy that I was thinking of converting using the HobbyPro brushless conversion kit. Would that work? Or is it better to start all over again and get a new chassis kit?

I personally use Tekin in all of my rigs now and don't look back. You can pick up the combo at Stormer Hobbies pretty cheap usually. ~$270

I believe set up and driving ability is more important on these cars than motor / esc. I don't think any of us use the full potential of these motors. So the XERUN should be fine.

Chassis: most run Ofna GTP2e or Losi.. Some Kyosho, a couple of Mugens and im the lone Tamiya runner. Tyres: get PMT 20 and 10 and you'll never have to wonder what tyres to run on these

I'm pretty sure the Tekno DM-1 Conversion Kit is a 1/8 scale rig. That's what I converted. You want a 1/7 scale, try that new traxxas beast that's coming out. IGT Hobbies is offering $100 off. Looks cool but it's a 1/7 scale.....there'd be nobody to race. That's no fun.....IMHO.

You never know, then again, you may have to part it out. I'm sure the motor and ESC will go fast. Good Luck!
