My buddy and I want to join the SOCal dudes soon and , without starting any tire wars, we were wondering what's a good front/ rear tires to start with for running in Corona. Maybe a couple of different brands and range in shore rating. Now be nice guys, I'm am not a troll

You're in luck. This coming Sunday, we will be racing with OC CIRCUIT at the Hobbytown in Corona. You and your buddy are more than welcome to come on out and join us for an awesome day of racing GT8E fun. If you've got sedans, trucks, mini's, F1 or anything else you feel like running, bring those too.

No need to worry about a tire war here. I believe the intent of this thread is to bounce ideas of GT8E off one another in an effort to GROW the class. No drama is needed/wanted here. In saying that, we've pretty much ran all of them. With 0 bias, I can honestly say that currently your best bet for Corona will be the PMT 20 shore's all the way around and if you need a little more rear grip, I'd run 10's in the back.

I hear that SWEEP is or has been working on an "E" specific tire compound. Ipanema will also be releasing their higher shore ratings to accomodate the hotter weather. I appreciate both companies recognizing a need to have a specific tire for us and applaud their efforts with providing it. I'm excited to run the higher shore ratings of the wide rear Ipanemas.

Some FYI. - IMHO, the shore ratings don't transfer as well for the "E" cars. Meaning that say a 45shore tire ran in nitro may be the hot ticket, but when mounted on an E ride, they may be good initially, but will lose their grip the 2nd half of the race. It is so much easier to overheat the tires with the amount of TQ, the brushless/lipo euipped cars produce. Not to mention, they're heavier too.

I hope to race with you guys on Sunday. We (team nitronic) pit in the row of popups behind the driver's stand. Come say hi.

Best,

Jai

I like it very much. Cost wise, it isn't the least expensive route to go, even if you already have the buggy. But it's definitely a contender. It handles very well.

I've noticed the drive train to be VERY free in comparison to the other GT8 cars I own/owned. It helps with acceleration and also run time.

Good luck with your build. GT8E is a lot of fun. I hope you try it out.

The body pictured is an Alpha R/C body from max velocity.

Since you already have the E. You're in great shape as u won't need the electronics or the conversion kit.

I run a Maxamps 4s Hard Case Race Edition Lipo 6500, Tekin RX8/2650 Motor

Below are the parts you need from the L8ight.

(1) front shock tower LOSA1717 (alu) or LOSA1718 (c/f)
(1) rear shock tower LOSA1738 (alu) or LOSA1739 (c/f)
(1) set of front shock bodies LOSA5401
(2) front shock shafts LOSA5411
(1) front bumper set/body mounts LOSA4466
(1) front bumper (foam) LOSA4467
(1) Your choice of body and wheels and tires.

I believe Jai covered everything you need to know about the tires and the GT8 Class. Definitely come on out and have some fun with us. We are a pretty laid back crowd. It's all about the fun.
