On my next post you can see foam balls that were sticking to my tires.
I've seen this at other on road tracks both carpet and asphalt when foam and rubber are used on the same day.
Before the gas guys got there Al & I (both with the same tires 45s) had good traction and as the day went on it seemed to go away or get weird, I'm not sure which.
I need to run there more to get a feel for the track.

I found it strange that I was able to race 27s tires on my 1/10th Mod car, I have never been able to run that soft of a tire without overheating them.

I made 2 changes to the GT car, took some droop out of the front & it gave me more steering but the back end was too loose.

I made the rear links longer at the hub, that made the rear looser.

I also believe that the firmer shore ratings will help tremendously for hooking up with the GT8E cars. I believe they will be available soon. I can't wait to try them.
Only have a lap time from last year

Das ran 24.2

Give me a week or 2 and I think i can beat that but it wont be by much

It sure looks that way, if not too soft a shore for your heavier E-GT car, you're getting a lot of wheel spin and cooking the rubber a little.

Also looking at the tire pictured, most of the "gatoring" seems to be towards the outside of the slick; meaning a little more negative camber is needed. It would also reduce the heat on the slick's edge and distribute it a little more even across the surface area.OK

Looking at the pic, I believe that is tire degradation. We have 0 racers using foam on our local track and my tires looked like yours. I believe it to be a result of too soft of a shore for the temps they were used on. I'd love to try some 60 shore compounds with FIRM inserts for GT8E in the upcoming tripple digit temps we experience at our track.

Since the electric cars are generally heavier than their nitro counterparts and have instant availability of monster torque, I believe it is much easier to overdrive the tires given the same shore rating.

GT8E is pretty new to most, so getting the tires, setups and etc perfect is all happening as we type. In time we should have a multitude of great references to use as starting points. Great thing we have this thread to document it.

I tried, Sweep 45 exp out of the package. no custom foam,

They sucked. push like crazy and never did warm up car was lose the hole run.

An other guy there had sweep's no idea what tire with custom foam they worked really well.

PMT tires work ok and I turned my best laps on them. but they are a handful the first 2 mins then they start to work about as good as the guy with the custom sweeps.

in the 3rd round Custom sweeps turned in a 24.56 and I turned in a 24.52

Air temp is 65-69 cool breeze

track prep is water and pop syrup.

Going to try sime Impinama's this week I hope, I will report my results.

1/8th and 1/10th nitro racers get 2 to 3 minutes on the track to warm up engines and tires, maybe a few laps to warm the tires would help.

I have been doing 2 laps myself with a lot of scrubbing before the start.

2-3 mins of running isnt really ideal. not yet anyways.

5000 Mah is good for about 9:30 of run time. maybe a bit more.

After looking at the heat build up in the pictures posted above, maybe the 50 shores would work much better than 45s. In the summer E-GT cars might want to use of 55 to 65 shore ratings, like Jai said in his post we'll have to learn this together.
