I think it all boils down to efficiency and heat containment when it comes to motor selections. I've seen some guys run 6S and 1700kv motors and they are super fast and have no heat issues. There's ton of advice here. Good Luck!!
Thanks Fangs. I am going to check it out now.

Did you switch to 1 speed tranny or are you still running 2 speed?
Still running the 2 speed... and with extra bearings in the bell.

what size bearings are needed? Id like to get everything order b4 i am home so that I do not have to wait to order parts once I get home..that means more days of not driving..

I also have to make adjustments to my wife's car and 3 of mine before heading to the tracks but I got those parts ready.

You'll need unflanged 5x8x2.5mm for the additional ones in the front of the bell.

Here is a complete bearing list for the DM-1 and places you can pick them up:

No problem!! When I got into to GT8s, I already had quite a few 4S Lipos since I also run a Losi 8E Buggy. That's why I went with the 2250kv for my setup. I've been told that if you get a lower Kv motor and use 5S or 6S it will have less issues with overheating. I've got great speed, I just gotta get my driving skills in check.

I see the link now but I am not getting it to pull up..now it is probably me lol.

I decided to go with the 1700kv motor after much consideration. I only have 2s and 3s lipos so I will need to buy a few new lipos. Now I just need to get some pinion gears so I can adjust.

Should I check out IGThobbies for that?

I'm running the Tekno traction drive with a center diff. I don't care much for two speed, it just adds another element that needs to be setup and beside I rarely run on huge tracks. I get my clutch bells (pinions) from Tekno. That's a hole different setup that what you are planning I'm assuming. IGT Hobbies has quite a bit of stuff for GT8s and so does NitroHouse.

What center diff are you running? I probably will ditch the 2 speed eventually, but I am keeping the clutch for sure.
