That is a GT1 body, based on a street legal production car. It therefore should be legal, at least if other GT1 bodies such as the McLaren F1GTR are allowed. That's just my opinion however-I am not the official decider.

Don't quote me on this, but I think that body is legal. There was a very small production of of the actual street car too, if I remember correctly.

Can someone please post what bodies the top 3 drivers were using in USGT at the Southern Nats? I'm pretty sure they were 2-door sport car bodies.

Actually at all the big races I've attended where USGT is a class, the top drivers are almost always driving GT style bodies. I really don't recall many (or any) top drivers using a prototype style body. I also don't recall the top drivers using the same body. Usually the top 3 at a big race are 3 using different body shells.

I think it is important to limit what type of bodies are allowed in USGT. However let's not overlook the fact I've seen many different bodies win big races in this class. For local racing, we should be embracing the fact that we can pick our favorite body from a large selection and still be competitive. This is what separates USGT & VTA from other TC classes where there can be a few or one type of body that is competitive.

It is easy to focus on what isn't allowed in USGT. However, I like to think of how much is actually legal and how competitive it all is. How many r/c classes exist where there are so many choices in chassis, body, speed control, motor, and batteries and any combination can take the top spot on the podium?

I wonder how many legal & available USGT bodies are really out there? I bet if we took the time to count them all, it would be a larger number than we realize.

Back on page 91 I posted this info.

Just an FYI - The Corvette and McLaren bodies are 200mm.

Here is a grid walk showing the bodies used.

The dynamite tires are not quite the same...Im pretty sure kevin k tried them and the rubber was different. I have to check but I think I may have an email about that too.

As far as the bodies the McAllister corvette is ok. The wing is separate it represents a real car and it is similar in style to many other bodies that hpi and tamiya produce. The othe McAllister is not good with the pan car style tail and it also has no real life counterpart
I would like to have this class be a little more open on body style than trans am since it is more of a general gt class than a representation of a specific era

Rob,

do you think you may eventually have to go to an approved (or dissapproved) body list?

Default Raven GT

Unfortunately, the way the rules are currently worded, bodies like the Raven GT would be ok.

There's a BIG difference between something that is "discouraged" and something that is "not legal"

Simply, change "Can AM or IMSA style bodies, similar to 1/12 or 1/8 bodies are also discouraged NO Trucks"

to

"NO Can AM or IMSA style bodies, similar to 1/12 or 1/8, NO Trucks" and it becomes a non issue.

Thanks Rob, well I already bought them, gonna give them a shot on our outdoor track tomorrow. Bad news is, it's our last race of the season so I wont get long term results. I plan to check them against Jaco and/or Solaris and so how they stack up grip wise.

if they are anything like the ones I tested(Dynamite) asphalt will eat them up real quick...I ran them at the Battlefield On-road Champs and they were toast after 2nd qual...switched to the Xpatterns for 3rd and mains to take the win....

here are some pics

they hook up nice, but don't last at all...the Rides Im told will hold a lot better.

Good luck

Where can you get the Ride tires? I checked RCMart and RC Mushroom and neither had them in stock. I have had no luck in finding them un mounted anywhere or mounted other than the Dynamite ones and the rims on those are soft and weak plastic. So far about as easy to get as X patterns. And we might be going this route for a spec tire?

Word on the USGT streets is: There will be a US distributor carrying them very soon. So this will make them easy for local hobby shops to order and sell.

Once the word got out about these tires possibly being used for USGT as spec and only 1 place had them currently, it wasn't going to be long before they sold out.

They'll be available unmounted, won't they? Hope so!
