Not allowing ANY of the 3.5 series motors to run kind of promotes the idea that they ALL have some sort of advantage.. which they do not, and makes it tougher for people to find the right motor to use.

But I digress... I don't really care about that race specifically as I am not attending, I was just making sure that the motor is typically allowed "in general", as there may be other races that I DO make, and that is the only motor I can run.
ROAR doesnt approve many 10.5 motors but EFRA does and it was banned because if you read the rules for motors the 17.5 and 10.5 both use the same same size wire that was in question. The 10.5 motor was actually the first D3.5 motor to get banned anywhere. Its all really a moot point why the whole motor line is banned at some race is mind boggling and really smells of sour grapes imo.

There isnt any reason to ban the D3.5 21.5 its roar approved and has always been. Now if you dont want to use it because its slow well thats another point. From what I have seen its not a very fast motor. The motors that I have seen be really fast are in no certain order are

Novak Ballistic
Novak Vulcan
Reedy Sonic 2
Thunder Power
Speedpassion MMM

I have seen where people like the Shurspeed and the Powers motor but have yet to see any run....people also like the D3.5 and every one that I have seen or owned has been slow so who knows in the end get what you like and race it. You will find out soon enough if its fast or not when you race against other motors. The new ORCA motors are looking really fast aswell so its going to be a gamble on whats approved and when for the Southern Nats race.

I see where you are coming from...wish you could/would attend especially if you run VTA or GT...but I understand...

I understand the race directors point ,due to a lot of guys are picking up new motors batteries ect for this event and the winter season in general...and he doesn't want ppl buying stuff that may or may not be used in the later months....

So we will leave it at that.....back to USGT info and racing

Capt America vs Battman....DC vs Marvel....just looks like it was going to happen...lol...

The issue is that come Jan the D3.5s will be extenct . and the rumor is the 3.5s at that point will not be legal any longer .
As far as I know the D3.5 will not be aloud to run at any large event in spec classes .
Vegas/birds/southern nats/vta series races . this is what I'm told by a few big race attenders

What about his body? It doesn't seem to fit into the mainstream USGT. Locally, we seldom have enough USGT cars to race.

I really like that body all except for the rear .. Looked at getting it to run but stuck with the McLaren F1

That body is fine, we have a couple guys running them here. It's in a similar vein to the Porche GT2 cars or the Mercedes CLK-GTR (the one that did the flips at Lemans). Some of the more far out Tamiya bodies like the Garaiya are not much different

Besides here is the current Scale Nationals Champion body type, 1st and second place:

I use a Novak 21.5. My car was plenty fast.

BTW, I'm not sure what is being enforced for NWAC or other asphalt clubs around here. But for SRCR Scale Spec on the rug, x-patterns must be non-belted d-compound with the stock insert, specifically because that keeps their performance on par with the VTA tires.

I have used one in USGT and it doesnt do anything better than any of the other bodies out there. It looks cool and has held up well so far to lots of abuse.

What is a typical FDR and motor timing setting for USGT?

I was doing some testing with my car last night and had it setup with an FDR near 4.0 like my VTA car and the motor got very hot. ESC temp was OK and set in blinky mode, no drag brake. Motor timing is set at the stock setting of 30 degrees. Battery is 30C 5000mAh. Car is an Xray T2 008.

What motor are you running typically a 21.5 motor is geared higher then a 17.5 motor closer to 3.5 fdr?
