Awesome Ford gt. Love the red and blue scheme. I'm almost done with one as well. Waiting on new wheels and tires so I can take some good pics.

This is the perfect class IMHO, we have a turnout for VTA but personally I don't care for vintage cars. Will have to see if I can get this class going as well.

I need to add some sponsors, but I'm a big fan of it. Thinking an Audi R8 will be the next one

I raced the USGT class for the first time over the weekend and I liked it alot. I converted a car I built for VTA to run USGT instead. I like this better than the VTA. I think the extra touch of speed makes USGT a little more fun to me.

Anyway, does anyone have a recommendation for a good 21.5 motor? I bought a new in package Trinity Pulse 21.5 (the model before the Duo) and its a major dog. It was cheap. Now I know why. I was getting pulled out of the corners and walked in the straight all day long. I tried up and down in gearing and up and down in timing and nothing seemed to matter so I'm just gonna move on from it. I should have known better anyway. If your gonna do something, just do it right. Trying to cheap out usually just means doing it twice.

I have the Reedy Sonic for my 17.5 blinky TC and love it. Great bottom end and really good top end also. It runs a little on the warm side, but I can fine tune the temps with the end bell timing very easily, so its pretty easy to work with. I was thinking about just grabbing the 21.5 version, but figured Id ask here before plunking down the cash. I was also considering the Thunderpower motor or the Revtech. I know I'll probably get 10 different answers for whats the "best' motor so I am not asking that. What I really want to know is are there any to avoid? (like the one I bought already )

All 3 of those motors seem to be pretty popular and I dont see any major complaints.

Also, any recommendations for a good FDR to start with on these cars? I tried from 3.54 to 4.05 and never found a decent usable range for with the motor I have. Always ran hot and slow. The best gearing with the motor I had motor seemed to be about 3.9.

BTW. Here are a couple pics of my car. Dont mind the ugly wheels. They are "spec" for my local track.

Car looks nice.....nice paint.

As for a motor the Speed Passion 21.5 MMM is a good motor make sure you get the optonal +40 deg sensor board.

As far as heat goes when its 95deg like it was yesterday at Strictly it wont matter most motors will be in the 170 to 200 deg range. Also make sure that the temp gauge you are using is accurate and you are using it on a non-reflective part of the motor if its reflective it will get a wrong reading on the temp gauge.

For a track of that size you will be the FDR range of 3.5 to 4.0 95% of the time with a 21.5.

My setup from the same race:
Speed Passion 21.5 MMM
35 degrees of timing
4.0 FDR

Running a fan on the motor and saw a maximum temp of 165 after the 8 minute main.

Default 21.5T Motor

I have the same question on motor choice. Trying to decide between LRP or Novak. Both run at about $90. My VTA esc is Novak (edge) so maybe that is where I should go. Thoughts ?

only if you want a used NSX painted up with a vodaphone scheme. Its already drilled and wheel wells cut for a tc6, with most of the front already broken and taped together.

And it's still/always so quiet over here in the USGT thread.

This class would be better with boost.
