I agree 100%. It's a totally predictable "slippery slope" for the USGT class. Allowing DP, LMP & GTP type bodies in USGT is only a recipe for the very thing that everyone was trying to get away from - one body style class.
It's rather perplexing in my opinion.

Mold me a '15 Corvette and I can do the Jordan Taylor #73 Team Corvette scheme.

Another friend picked up an R1 yesterday and he tested it on the bench real quick before going on the track and his response was "holy $h!t". Lol

I'm loving my R1 Wurks 21.5, tried a friends TP when I first ran USGT and it was ok then picked up my R1 and haven't looked back. R1's have the fastest laps on our current track.

I have run both, R1 and D4 SS, tiny tiny bit more top end with the R1, more grunt out of corners with the D4 SS

Hey Kev! You getting a sedan again? Anyway, the Ion V from Fantom is a rebadged shortstack D4 1s from Trinity. Nice options when ordering. Pricey like the Certified trinitys. The Ultra premium R1 is a great motor and is fast in 2s applications like USGT also not cheap. Another option is the Team Scream 21.5 They are under the radar but are exceptional too for a great price. I saw quite a few put the coals to the D4 1s crowd. Remember, the motor is just part of the equation. From talking with Factory guys from Trinity and another brand over the weekend at the MHIC race in Denver, batteries are just as important. Newer Chemistry,How they are charged and also nailing the sweet spot on not only gearing but timing on EACH and every individual motor. Not trying to discourage you but show you your options.

I did not see this trend at the recent USVTA Nationals there was not a single prototype body raced out of 35 or so racers. Everyone raced with GT bodies on their cars. If Prototype bodies are as good as some think then there would have been more of them. The most popular body at the nationals was the new PF-10 body also it was the most hated due to body tucks.

On top of all this Alex, who won, had the chassis to do it. The total package took the win.
My point here is that because at one track, one style of body is favored does not mean it's going to be stratus ville circa 2001. I will still put an original Protoform Corvette up against any body out there in 99% of situations and it will be as good or better. Same thing with the Tamiya NSX or for that matter the Speed Passion 350Z (which is discontinued too :/ )
The prototype bodies are fine but they have not proven to me to be superior over all the other styles. I thought a Celica just won at the Indoor Nationals??!?!
BTW, do you still have the mold for the Opel Calibra DTM??? That is another great body from the past.

The body tuck problem can be improved with a little extra effort - however I've noted over the years that a certain percentage of racers just don't like to spend any extra effort - when it comes to body preparation. No offence to anyone in particular - it's just an observation. A piece of .030 lexan can only be expected to perform "so many" tasks.

Regarding that Opel Calibra DTM: On a personal note , I really liked that project a lot. We probably still have the mold somewhere, however it will never be re-introduced. Even though this body was produced way back in the "days of licensing innocence" we were served with "cease and desist manufacturing - or you'll be sued" documents sent to us by both Opel AND the DTM race team. It's all gotten to be only crazier since them with licencing. (unless you live in Arizona)

With the conversations going on, I really don't have any fear of a one body class. But... I am fearing modor wars like 17.5. I run a HobbyWing 21.5 and it's awesome. I'll probably run it until I get bored with it and change brands just because it it burns up. It don't see the latter happening because it comes off the track at around 110 max.
I just really am apprehensive about these motors that are priced at $120+. That is my fear about what will kill the class, not bodies.
