I know some of you aren't going to like this but, we ran a race this weekend and one racer had a GTP body. The consensus was that style of body doesn't belong in this class. Yes it is a very cool looking body and the way the rules are written they can be run. In all of the big car racing series those cars are a different class. These are supposed to be GT style bodies. If the rules don't get a little clarification then we will all run them to be competitive and the class will struggle as WGT has. Remember WGT started as a GT/pan car class with a similar body rule then a designed for the class body came out. The interest nearly died in that class and it is struggling to recover. Lets not have this happen to this class it is a blast to race in and the body variety is what make it unique.

Get with the program. Because the fast guys at the Regional events aren't running them, they're not a problem...

And it won't be a problem until one "prototype type body" comes out that is better in every way and then when the "fast guys" start running them, everyone will run them. Then it will be addressed or it will become a one body class.

Hi, After a lot of searching I was able to find an HPI Ford Gt prepainted bodywhich
is now discontinued. I was able to get the ride 6 spoke star wheels which are the ones the authentic car uses. I hope it is legal for USGT. Regards
Norman

I agree! It wouldn't be that hard to make an "approved bodies list". Yes, it would be longer than that VTA list but at least you'd have a definitive answer if a body was legal.

Follow this and you will win at USGT body picking:

If (Body is NOT ROAR Legal for TC & NOT a Truck){
BODY IS LEGAL
}ELSE{
BODY IS NOT LEGAL
}

People need to stop getting their panties in a bunch over this. The class was made to run realistic looking car bodies vs the almost identical TC bodies that don't look realistic... I like this class because I see so many different cars out there to pick from. If everyone thinks my Shaken 408R is so great and is such an advantage over other bodies and everyone runs them. Fine, I will run a different body because I liked being the only one with it on the track. That was the main reasons I picked it...

Oh, I'm perfectly aware of the current rule. And you could drive a dumptruck right through it.

Oh wait, trucks aren't legal.

I think the point of all this discussion is that it's very easy to go down the slipperly slope of "intent" vs. written rules. If you try to govern a class by "intent" then the class is usually doomed. If you are specific about what a class is supposed to be (e.g. VTA - only cars raced in the original Trans-Am Series are allowed) then there is very little wiggle room.

I agree, at the local level run what you want and have fun. But don't complain if the Nationals look like a cookie cutter class at the front.
