Default I'll be throwing my hat in the USGT ring for too long now

Hey RJ I'll be running this my first time out in USGT, probably last race of the AROCS series. I may or may not run in Austin next Sunday cause I'll be on call so hopefully if there's no events at the dome or at the center I should unveil it next Sunday, we'll see.

Ol skool

Looking good, Ol Skool! Unfortunately, I'll be out of the country and won't be able to run the last two AROC events. I do plan on running both VTA and USGT in the EOS, though. Maybe you'll see my stripes on a vette by then. Lol.

Ol Skool,
Can I get a manufacturer or part number for those wheels? I like the look of them.

question for the usgt guys running the ride spec tire. possibly putting together a series for next winter but would like to know how well the ride spec tire performs on high bite carpet. and whats the wear like? are these belted or non belted. pics of wear would be nice. thanks in advance.

do they have any weird or evil handling characteristics? good on carpet or not? etc. our carpet season is pretty much done (one wed night race left).

Tires are awesome . Put a freshly mounted set on this past weekend for the scale nationals practiced 20 packs worth on friday in practice , 4 runs sat moring in practice , 3 6min qualifiers sat , 2 runs sun morning
for practice , then 1 qual and 3 Amain 8min runs and still can see the entire tread and mold seam in center. Tires were never rotated and only cleaned maby one time a day on med traction carpet

Hey Rufus I believe they are the #4702 - MOUNTED X-PATTERN TIRE D COMPOUND SPLIT 6 CHROME Glued/Includes Inner Foam/26mm width/4 tires
They are pretty cool look'n rims and I think they come in black too.
Hope that helps

evil or weird - no
carpet good - yes
belted - no

They were used in the last 2 of the triple crown scale national races this season that averaged over 40 USGT entries in each one and worked just fine. Also the fact they don't cost much is icing on the cake. They last longer then most tires and for me they just get better and better the more you use them. I ended up using 2 sets this season.

Here are the A Main videos from the last nationals races

thanks for the info guys. i want to try these for the series. unfortunately here in the nw they pair up both usgt and vta into scale spec. it would be nice to have them separate but both combined we have a really good turn out for the class.

my plan is to have a paired driver series. local fast guy paired with a rookie. both qualify with same car and both compete in a 10 min main with the car both qual once since we only do 2 quals. rookie in one, fast guy in the other. combine both quals for mains. both drive the main and at the 5 min mark they switch drivers, slow guys start main and fast guys finish. everybody runs same body and 10 teams max 10 colors etc. kinda like the old iroc series but onroad and teams. still in the talking stage. will see what happens. i want this series to help make friends and teach rookies setup and driving techniques etc.

Yes it does help. Thanks. I am troubled by the 26mm width. I am under the impression that the spec tires work better with a 24mm width wheel.

Does anyone know of a chrome wheel in 24mm width? Tamiya has an 18 spoke chrome wheel in "medium narrow width". Does that mean 24mm?

Hey Dragonracing, at Lou's Speedway we have run an enduro race sort of like the series you're starting, except it was a single event not a series.
For the most part our teams were a more experienced driver with a newer driver, or someone who already has a usgt car and someone who wants to try the class out.
We ran 2hrs. Locked fdr at 4.5 to keep things a little more even.
There was a sort of "assembly" start where they started with the battery out, body off, and wheels off. After that, pit stops were up to the teams. Run till lipo cut off or don't. Swap drivers when you want but both drivers have to have the same amount of stick time.
It was a big hit! Guys had so much fun that there is a second one coming up. Mandatory lights have been added to the rules for this one and length has been increased to 2.4hrs. The lights to the building will be shut off for some or all of this race. Although it won't be very dark. The track has 6 or 7 windows about 4' x 4' along the length of it about 10-12' high. It provides a lot of light. Enough that racing in the dark shouldn't be an actual problem, just an interesting twist.
Goodluck with your series!

Default Tamiya Rims

The medium-narrow rims are 24mm.
