The Corvette DP was deemed legal with the reasoning being it is similar in shap and design to cars such as the Mclaren and Zonda. With that in mind I'm sure these new prototype bodies will be legal as well. Personally, I don't think they should be legal, but I don't make the rules. I will be happy running the bodies that I feel should make the class.

I agree. While I like the way the corvette looks, I like the production car bodies offered for the class.

As I have said before its not much different than some of the japanese gt cars that tamiya does or the hpi bodies previously mentioned.

Performance wise its not a huge deal either as we all got our brains beat in at our last big series race Sunday by a Tamiya BMW 2009 M3 on a Corally car. NSX Mclaren Mr2 Camaro and Lotus were all in the main if I remember right...

Not convincing enough in my book, but like others said, I don't make the rules. IMO, it's not about what's competitive or not or whose body is "wedgier" than the other. Having prototype cars in a street-car-based GT class takes away from the scale aspect of USGT. As I've mentioned in a previous post, it's not USDP/P2/PC.

I think I'm going to paint up a '67 HPI Corvette to run in VTA....

I understand your decision Rob and it makes sense. With me, it's just the principal of the fact that it's a GT class and prototype bodies are legal. Not a huge deal and I will continue to run this class as it's a bunch of fun.

I agree with RJ and JCarr. I really like this class and will continue to run GT bodies, regardless what's considered legal.

I could care less . I like the fact that any realistic body is considered legal (excluding roar tc bodies)
I think its cool to see different bodies on the track . but I only race carpet so aero dynamics has little effect (to me ) I just like the look of the corvette /McLaren/ Mazda proto bodies . my question is weight of the bodies I see more Proformance gains with LW bodies ...so who makes a light weight Usgt legal body :-p?

+2 (my son runs USGT as well) What I don't like, and I think many would agree, is the guys that just buy a legal body, spray it one color, skip any decals and simply run a clam shell. No effort towards realism. That misses the point of having a scale class. Then its just hardware. The concern about true GT vs. Prototype is shades of gray to me. Of course, the same thing happens in VTA too.

I do agree . one color bodies and little to no decals is not what I like to see ...at big races ,anyways . I mean I know it takes a lot of time and money to get have a nice paint job but it is worth it in terms of eye candy to the outsiders looking in.

I suck at painting and do not enjoy painting... Simple as that. I am sure "real" VTA and GT cars were raced at some point with 1 color... I run USGT and USVTA mostly because 17.5 is 2 freaking fast on small tracks and 17.5 bodies all looks the same. I don't care about 1 color paint. I do think people should at least put the headlight and break stickers on...

It's all good. Actually, the more I think about it, it IS ok to allow the DP bodies to run with the GT cars. Why? Because in USCR (formerly Grand AM/ALMS) the prototypes DO run with the GT cars!

To make it even more scale, maybe the prototypes should run 17.5T motors?

**ducking for cover!***

Yes. Also, the prototypes should run foam tires to simulate the higher grip levels of the real cars!

Now we both need to duck for cover.
