200mm Pan Morphing Back into 235mm Pan Again?
Is 235mm Pro-Ten/Pan gaining popularity again?
Seems so in Europe and there are a few cool looking new 235mm cars out as well as the Corally C10X and the adjustable width CRC Gen X-10.
Also it seems I don't hear too much about 200mm pan nowadays and i'm seeing more 235mm conversions coming out for them.
Anyways, i'm still trying to decide if I should get rid of my HPI RS10G. Don't want to sell it and then "Boom", 235mm is all the rage again.

The 1s rule seemed to kill WGT a lot around here. There seems to be less and less people running them as of late. Last year, there was always a WGT class to race in where I race. Now, you can barely get 3. I don't know what else to blame except for the 1s rule. I could be wrong.
My question to the 235 guys is, what for? Is 200mm not enough? I'm interested. I have 2 pan cars and thought about turning one into the 235 kit. Does adding the extra width make it easier to drive? Handle more power?

Never ran 1s but it would seem that the 1s pack is not enough weight for the 1/10 car compared to 1/12, not good for outdoor asphalt at the least. It needs the weight of the 2s pack. And with 7.4v, it would be better with 235 width for more stability, especially with the new ESC's and 13.5 and lower turn BL motors.
I used to run 235 back in the day so i'm partial to it. I think the wider 235 GTP bodies look better too.

Well, you can try to strap in a 4.5 @ 2s and see if your 200mm car can handle it. (I trhink it will work, just not that good, 235mm has higher downforce bodies available).
And I personally think that real pro10's are 235mm, not 200 but thats a personal opinion.

the difference between the 200mm and 235mm so far seems to be quite equal in 10.5t and 2s lipo as far as i can see.
200mm seems to be a little faster in the twitchy sections of the track where the 200mm seems to be a little more nimble then the 235mm. The 235mm can take the long fast sweepers faster but in the twitchy sections is a little slower in transition from left to right.
Last weeks national the only 200mm car, a rc10L3, got third place inbetween 235mm pancars. It is all about the right setup and very track dependend. The traction was very limmiting that race (a lot of dust/pollen from the trees) so not sure what will happen when there would be good traction.
My feeling says that the propper width should be 235mm but 200mm can do the job very good as well in the 10.5t 2s class.

200mm 1 s is good for the winter indoor on small tracks
but here in europe on our big 1/8 track 235 2s is way more fun
at our local club it is indoor 200mm 13,5 2s
and outdoor 10,5 2 s 200 or 235 i tried both(crc genx 10)
235 is easyer and the run are more consistant
but a 200mm with 962 body or a lola body is as fast as 235

I fail to see the point in the 200mm class especially with the 1s lipos. Pan cars were just getting going here in the UK on 2s and then they put 1s in the mix when there's not even enough people with pans anyway. They should have just put more effort into bringing back the 235 class as everyone remembers that. Many people at my tracks have tried to get me to buy a TC or a 200 pan but there's no way I'm going to, hopfully they may come round and buy a 235? Anyway, 235s are awsome and a real memory from the past, I will keep using mine at my local tracks even if there are few people to race against. I'm just happy that brushless and lipo have made running a pro10 much less expensive than it was 15 years ago. Long live 235!

we are running 235 here in the Northwest and I for one love it. It is less expensive then it was back in the day and way faster 57 mph on our back straight check out our track here www.timezoneracing.com

7.4v is just too fast with today's BL motors for the size tracks we run in the US. In Europe where it is the most popular the tracks are designed for 1/8th nitro on-road cars so you need a lot more power or you'll be crawling around the track.

Ah the good ol EV10...my favorite pan car of all time
I still have most of the parts where I could build a couple of them if I could only get new plastic parts to replace the worn out stuff. Would love to build it up again using today's better shocks.

McKune has a conversion for an RC10R5 that takes it out to 235mm, and BMI is coming out with a 235mm version of their great looking copper head 10.
CRC has had one for while.
And can't forget John Stranahan's car either.
I'd say things are looking up for Pro10.

I'll stay with my 200mm chassis with the 1 cell. I can't tell you the name of the chassis because there is no name- yet.It is figerglass and as far as I know there is only one company that makes the basis chassis (which is very unique)! Maybe I be able to try it out in June (and then there will be two).
