Default TC5 gearing

Hey guys i just picked up a TC5 in trade to try my hand at on-road for the first time. I will be running a Tekin RS Pro and my motor choices are a redline 17.5, 13.5 or 8.5. My question is whether or not the FDR guidelines on Novaks website would be a good place for me to begin with gearing? I know from my off-road experience with the Tekin Hotwire v203 software that gearing is often different from what others consider the norm.

I have the same question, recently back in onroad, same car, same speedo! Don't take my word for this but through searching the tekin and tc5 threads, it seems most using a 17.5 with ramping here is gearing at about 4.0 final!! Internal on TC5 is 2.0:1 so it's real easy to calculate in your head... Just double the pinion for the spur and POW!! 4.0:1!! With that said, a temp gun is always best.
I think there is a lot of factors now that need to be worked out at the track such as timing and ramping and c ratings so I'm not sure what these guys and gals could tell us but starting points are where I need help.

An FDR of 4.0 for a 17.5 on v203 software with timing boost and turbo may result in a cooked motor in a TC5. Novak's recommended gearing would more than likely be for non-ramping ESCs. Timing and turbo need higher FDRs.

I run Redline motors with my RS PRO and find an FDR of 6.96 (87/25 48Pitch) works well for my 17.5 and 7.25 (87/24) or 7.56 (87/23) works well for my 13.5.

I've been running my 17.5 more than my 13.5 lately in my TC5 with the following settings:
Motor Timing: 0
Boost: 45
Turbo: 14
Delay: .9
Ramp: 2

Temps after running for 7 minutes are around 160-170F

Ambient temp at my track is around 86 F.

Try to stay under 60 degrees of total timing (motor+boost+turbo) and 180F on the Redlines.
