Is this a good deal

Im new to the hobbie and i was just wondering if all the stuff below was a good deal for $200, i dont wanna get scammed. The chassis is in good shape and everything looks fine, i just thought id check with you guys.

Heres the stuff:

Associated TC3 4WD touring car with box, instructions, and a boatload of extras. I have invested about $900 in the contents. This thing was built top of the line and raced with the best of them. It was mainly a carpet car but I tried street racing a couple of times so the bottom does have a scratches, but nothing major. I spent a lot more on extras and upgrades than the $350 I paid for the car. I wanted top of the line so I bought all this at once and paid an experienced racer that worked at the local hobby store to put it together. I’ve run stock and modified and this car is absolutely awesome.

I left in the Futaba s9402 Steering servo (works awesome) and a P2K2 motor that was only ran a few times.

Here are all the extras and upgrades I can think of to the best of my ability…
Graphite front and rear arms (plus stock ones)
Graphite front and rear shock towers (plus stock ones)
Graphite block carriers (plus stock ones)
Graphite front steering block (plus stock ones)
Graphite rear hub carrier (plus stock ones)
All graphite chassis braces (plus stock ones)
Front and rear anti-roll bars
Factory blue screw kit
All blue anodized titanium turnbuckles
Blue anodized threaded shock kit with extra springs (plus stock ones)
Blue anodized battery hold down strap (plus 1 graphite and 1 stock one)
Blue anodized aluminum shaft drive (plus 2 stock ones)
2 Blue anodized motor heat sink (2 sizes)
Blue anodized motor adjustment cam and clamp (plus stock ones)
Blue anodized transponder mount (got bent during a race)
Blue anodized wheel hex adapters (plus stock ones)
Blue anodized MIP CVD’s
14 carpet tires & rims, I think all are used (some good, some ok, some bad)
12 street tires & rims (the ones on car are brand new and need the included foam inserts put in then need glued)
3 painted bodies (all are very used and beat up, but work fine)
10 pinion gears in a RPM case, good for all stock and modified motors
An underbody antenna mount
Plus extra tools, lubes, screws, more parts (some new in package), and more

All that for about $200 USD

For $200.00 I would say that is a very good deal, all the spares and stuff add up. The 14 sets of carpet tires are over 150.00 alone.

I think you can do better. Sounds like it's just a used FT TC3. Not that that's not fair, but for a couple bucks more, you could get a new kit and build it yourself which I think would be a good experience if you are new to the hobby.

As a side note, the TC3 might not be the best choice for a first car, especially in graphite. You might want to look into a plastic losi.

yeah i talked to a guy at a hobby shop and he said that the Tc3 was better than the losi but it wasnt graphite. Is graphite really breakable or something?

stumper 05-18-2004 05:58 PM

a graphite car is fine for your first car. all parts are going to break weather its plastic or graphite. so go ahead and start out with a car you'll end up keeping.

yep, i agree, dont fall into the trap of buying cheap stuff and then upgrading, coz in the long run, you'll end up spending more, worse, when u look back at your expenses you'll realize that had you waited you would have bought the car that you really wanted.
