Yokomo R12

Yokomo is coming with a new 1/12 pan car. The team drivers will attend the worlds in germany with it in the end of this month.
Should reach the shops end of june.

Does anyone have more info or pictures about it?

I red some post talking about the rims. I wonder if they have the same offset comared to the standard.

Awesome. I really like the front-end...effectively a damped anti-roll bar for front suspension. On a smooth track this would be mega.

RC MARKET 06-07-2010 03:14 PM

Good but need use Yokomo New off set wheel !

Joost K. 06-07-2010 11:31 PM

The rear axle does seem to only fit the new Yokomo wheels with that big offset. But I guess this is still the prototype which will attend the worlds only by the team drivers. I doubt that Yokomo would put it on the market like this. If so, just drop in the R5.1 rear axle & hubs and your done for normal wheels...

Other than that, I really LIKE IT!!!

But we'll see once it is available...

Anyone know if this kit is going to be available in the US and where can I get one thanks.

Keefy, you can't read Japanese!
I can, and they are planing to release in July. Yokomo are competing worlds in June with this car if all goes to plan.

sdunnmcp 06-08-2010 08:48 AM

Not sure if it is leagal in the US (Roar). I think ROAR has a sliding Kingpin rule but I'm not sure.

It looks like the bottom and top "a" arm moves....

The HPI RS12 also had double wishbones so ROAR must follow. For World GT it's not legal but than again World GT, what a dumb class.

Cool hopefully I can get one in the States. I don’t like getting things overseas the shipping only costs as much as the kit itself.

And don't forget the Delta Spyder out of the late 80's. It also had double wishbones ánd a mono front shock just like the R12...

Team Trinity built a monoshock front suspension years ago (forgot the name) on one of their 1:12 scale chassis. Though, it seemed to only work on carpet surfaces that were pool table flat.

Yup...and that was essentially a Delta front end that Trinity brought back from the dead.

KHoff7 06-25-2010 08:40 PM

Glad to see someone finally work on the front ends. Can't wait to see it hit the states.

Yokomo_Ant3 06-29-2010 07:38 AM

Im guessing it wont be delayed much longer now. Naoto and R12 World champions;)

wingracer 06-29-2010 07:49 AM

Yep, you have to use Yok rear wheels. Although, the back of the car is just an R5 so you should be able to put an R5 axle and hubs on it to use standard wheels. The only problem might be that I hear the offset is slightly different as well so may take a bit of shimming to get the track width just right.

2wdrive 06-29-2010 09:24 AM

they should make a pro10 version off that front end with the old associated bolt pattern but probably a little diy will do the trick as well. I am curious how that would go on untreated outdoor asphalt?

DHMOTORSPORTS 07-01-2010 06:57 PM

To change caster it looks like you will need another mount for the upper arms? Kinds like the older AE front ends.. You guys with me on this or am I missing something?. I'm old school just not the Delta 80s version old school..lol.

It looks like it has the same little caster clips on the upper arms that the 12r5 has.

DHMOTORSPORTS 07-01-2010 07:59 PM

To me the clips are a fine tuning deal. In talking like the bigger adjustment. Like rotating the blocks on the R5 upper mounts.. 0,5,10. And such..I always like the feeling of a lot of caster on corner entry. Just personal preference..

UltegraSTI 07-02-2010 07:31 AM

u coulda changed the color of the car to green and put a lil 'film grain' on the video and said it was masami. a master class performance indeed.

So the car is designed to run tires that the general public can't get?

its still based on associated parts so I'm sure you can use the 12r5.1 rear carbon shaft and hubs that will allow you to use tires of today

skypilot 07-03-2010 11:07 PM

of course the 'general' public will be able to get tires, I'm sure just as soon as the car is released so will the tires, in the past yomoko has had their own wheels, nothing new and nothing to panic about

V12 07-04-2010 04:19 AM

Someone from a Yokomo distributor told me the new car will be released with usual hubs. The special hubs and wheels won´t be released.

vafactor 07-04-2010 09:49 AM

anybody got any pics that show where the front springs are? curiosity is killing the cat now that it's been pointed out that the spring on the front shock was notably absent on Noato's car. So where are those springs anyway? Need to see pictures please.

Voila:

InspGadgt 07-04-2010 10:44 AM

Oh so did they ditch the mono shock idea? That is going to have to be a much stiffer spring to run that far in-board...HPI tried an in-board spring on their front end too...it kinda sorta worked.

V12 07-04-2010 10:53 AM

I have seen a picture somewhere showing 2 very small at the lower A-arms. Maybe was on redrc.net.

Edit:
Hmm, didn´t see someone was faster on that.

No, it still has the shock, just no spring on the shock. And yes, it is a much stiffer spring. Just look at the pic and you can see it's much thicker wire.

vafactor 07-04-2010 12:29 PM

hmmmm. that's a pretty disadvantaged position for the spring. previously I had thought that the little button head screw that was visible in previous photos was there to adjust droop. now that I've seen this photo, maybe that little screw's real purpose is to adjust spring tension instead of droop? one this is sure, Yokomo's new front end sure is different that anybody else's.
