hey i just got back from the ROAR region 11 onroad championships yesterday (the same track where the on-road nats will be later this summer) and thought you guys might want to know what the track is like.

excellent track (for a parking lot) that is relatively smooth (we had no problems running pan cars down to 3mm), also very cool with its elevation changes (not drastic, but enough to keep things interesting)

surface got to be very high grip by the end of the weekend, even with only about 8 heats of cars, and the air temp never really got higher than 70 all weekend i would say.

take-off 27's will be a great tire to run at this track, i tried sorex 32 and 36 with various inserts through out practice, but ended up running the take off tires as they seemed to work the best for my car.

i ended up TQing and winning 19t in the frist two mains, and qualified 5th ended up 3rd after three mod sedan mains behind travis schreven (1st) and Andrew cartwright (TQ- 2nd). i think that travis ran sorex 36 on his xray, and cartwright was running take-off 27 on his schumacher.

wont bother to post my setup as my car was a bucket anyway, but i will say that i cant wait to see the country's best battle it out in oregon.

Does any one know the part numbers for the steel outdrives for the losi xxx-s? If you could list any other parts needed that would be cool. Thanks.

It would be way easier and in the long run cheaper (taking into account the money you would get from selling the RTR) than upgrading the RTR piece by piece. In general, if you know you'll be racing and you can afford it, try not to skimp too much on the gear you buy. It's a lot cheaper to buy the good stuff right off the bat than it is to buy cheaper stuff initially, then upgrade all of it later on. Trust me on this one, I learned this myself firsthand.

One of the smartest things you can do as far as setup goes is talk to the fast guys at your track. Figure out exactly how they've setup their cars and get their opinions on how you've got yours setup. You mentioned that you've got slicks, but didn't say which ones specifically. Make sure you're running the right tire for your track. This is critical to good handling. And keep those questions coming on this thread. There are a lot of very knowledgeable people on here.
Thanks, i'll keep that in mind too

I'm not good at the part #'s thing, I'm sure James knows them off the top of his head though You need the outdrives, a shim kit and the aluminum diff tube.

Does Losi make zero degree castor blocks? I was looking at MF's setup from the Reedy race and noticed that he had 0 castor, but have not seen the blocks.

Just curious.
