The carpet just doesn't have enough bite yet to be running stiff setups like that. Cyan/Magenta are a softer tire and I thought they really gave me the grip I wanted to push it harder. Carried a lot of corner speed.

So you think it's a good idea to run a lower ratio with the monster stock? I've always heard that you typically want to run a slightly higher ratio with that motor compared to other stocks.

Ok. I got this car from one of the other racers and this was his setup. I like it, but I am willing to try other options.

I will change my car to this setup and do some testing...

Thanks David.. I really appreciate the advice.

I've always kept my monster stocks around 30-33 on the pinion just depending on the track. Its gonna get hot cause its a stock motor. Just don't let it get unsolder the brushes hot lol I guess a lot of it could depend on your motor setup too. I've always stuck with 4499s and red/green. I don't run stock enough to try lots of different things. I'm sure one of the other guys could give you tons more info then I could. Thats just what works for me.

By the way, are you running the new kevlar spur? If so, what do you think about it? I'm running 48P gears right now, but I really like my cars to run as quietly as possible, so I'm thinking about switching to 64P. What type of pinions do you use?

Kevlar is going to be tough to strip, but louder. It's also heavier then the stock blue spur.

When it comes to the spur gears.....I can tell you about half of the team guys were using the blue one and the other half were using the kevlar. Those using the kevlar had drilled it out to lighten it up. They didn't seem really any louder to me, though I did spot one driver putting some of that pink aero lube on his spur/pinion. His car was ultra quiet....

There were a few drivers using a plastic gear adapter and using aftermarket spurs.....Kinwald had this setup.

I've had good luck with the Binary 2 motors once I learned how to tune and gear them. Try Trinity purple springs, Reedy 767 brushes, and gear it 30/128, should be a good setup, mine has only been faster than the monsters..

It's 3 teeth

But it's fast... The worst that can happen is you'll cook some brushes.
