Are we talking about the yellow belt? And what are the advantages? A more free drive-train? What's the benefit of that? Do any team drivers do this?
Thanks!

It frees up your drive train some and you do not have to cut them perfectly off...but try to keep it neat with out knicking the fibers of the belt. My belt tension did not change much from where it was before I cut the belt. I have only run this with a stock and 19t motor so I dont know how it will work with a mod motor.
Maybe Todd can let us know if hes run this with a mod and how well it holds up.....and also if the new belt and pulley system they have been running will be released to us mortals any time soon?

Rumors....I would never spread such a thing....
But really I heard from a team driver that they have been running this new belt and tensionser pulley system for sometime. And for sure most of the team ran it at Cleveland....some might have even had it at the reedy race earlier this year. I guess your crack investigating reporting skills were a little lacking at the race huh???? j/k

I'm pretty sure Matt Francis wasn't using anything different at the Reedy race. He was showing me some things on his car to help me get a setup on mine at that race and I didn't notice anything different on his car. Besides, if they had something like that I don't think he would have let me look that closely at it.

Cutting off every other tooth has seem to free up the drivetrain and not hurt the durability of the belt. As for the new belt system all I can say is that we are always testing new things. If we(TL) feel that a new product that we are testing is better it will be released to the public. Its like the new BK Bones that we are in the midst of developing...as soon as we perfect them they will be available to all racers.

Are you all doing this on the yellow belt?

cutting tooth
no wonder some drivers paint their gear covers (the plastic thingy) so we could not see the belt! hmmmmmm (well thats one reason to paint it)
Will try it out . . .
