so if someone is using a 60wt oil in a 60 piston how thick must the oil be in a 56

Default upgrade XXX-S to Graphite

I am new to sport, I recently bought a used XXX-S.
I have studied the parts list for both the regular and the graphite version, so I think I know what parts are different.

Many of the parts which distinguish the graphite from the regular xxx-s are identical; they just are made of different material.
(Graphite parts lighter? stronger?)

My question is what graphite version parts provide the most bang for the buck?

The new yellow belt? $10.
The aluminum MIP brand dogbones 4x10=$40
( I have heard the aluminum are easier to bend in a crash than the steel ones)
The 2 rear off set hub things and rear suspension arms (Do you need to buy both?) 2 x $7.50= $15 arms 2 x $11=$22

The threaded shock body seemed like a genuine improvement when it came to adjusting the car. 2 x $20=$40

The 24mm wheels. Since I am planning in buying another set of wheels these seemed like a good deal.

Since I am a real novice driver, I am wondering if would notice even a slight improvement with any of thes upgrades.
Given the first 4 items I mentioned already add up to $127, might I be just better off waiting and buying a graphite kit at some point?

if you are are planing on racing compeditivily i would go the whole graphite plus. If your just racing for fun or area real begginer in 540 or somthing i would say that it doesnt matter too much.

Since you've already got the car, run it like it is and learn to drive. Driving is the biggest key. I don't care how much money you throw at it, if you're just getting into this and are a true novice driver, you won't be able to tell the difference. Once you learn to "feel" the car, then you'd be able to notice the differences. By then, I would invest in the G+ kit because you'll have a better idea of what you're doing and what the different car is doing.

i'd say stick with your original kit...before i boughtmy G+ I honed my driving and chasis tunning skills on my old XXX-s kit (still have it until now)...i had some parts replaced like the diffrent offset for the rear hub carriers and the diffrent degree for the front c-hubs...tuned my car for less tire wear...when i'm driving, i like to follow people so i can learn to control my throtle finger, which works really well...jumping in front immidiately doesnt always make you win...sometimes you gotta be patient...and now I run mod after 5 months of stock racing...but i still enjoy the competition of stock over mod...btw we ran open mod...g'luck

I'd get the appropriate tires for your track first and foremost, and then the threaded shocks. the others, you can do without first, as most of the guys have posted, driving is the key.

Also, my personal opinion, after you have driven the car and honed your driving skills, and you're going to upgrade... get a new G+.

I say, just hone your driving skills, and when you feel comfortable with the car, buy the G+. You may find that you don't like the belt drive cars and want to try a shaft drive (like the TC3, or Yokomo MR4TC SD SSG (phew!,) or the Tamiya Evo 3.)

The G+ is a great car, but honestly, I can't tell much difference between the regular XXX-S and the G+. Yeah, I use the different Ackerman adjustment, and the rear shock tower's extra camber link spots, but honestly, it's not THAT different driving-wise.

I love my Losi, but not everyone's suited to a belt-drive car. Give your regular XXX-S a shot, and if you like the way it drives, spring for the the G+. It's a much better value than upgrading individually, and building the car provides a ton of insight into how the car works, and what adjustments are possible.

Jut my $.02.

Does anyone here run Socal?
I would like to know what tire, wheel and insert combination is working. Taking a trip out to socal soon and can't take much
Running XXX-S G+ onroad 19T or stock.

That's what I've been told when I run there. I can never get a good setup on the car there though.

the oil that came with the kit is too light for an indoor tight carpet track.

needs sway bars also.
