TOdd and the boys,

Here is my problem I need advice on. We ran last night on carpet/foam tires/stock motor. I ran and traded cars with Aaron Buran's very dialed TC3. I have to admit his car was much better than mine in some very important ways. I hope I can describe it so I can get some help.

Aarons's TC3 would initiate turn very well. Car was easy to steer, had plenty of grip and was totally neutral going in. Very easy to drive and fast is the laymans term for how it felt. Also-easy to make fine adjustments of line-even when driving hard into the corner. My Losi was very hairy and unpredictable in the same corner!! It would change direction fine, but I felt (as did Aaron) that car just sort of dove in by itself. And not entirely stable either. Not like you were in direct charge of the steering input. IN other owrds-car was in self drive mode after turning in.

Heres the set-up:

Front

70 wt. oil, Congo purple spring. Shock layed into second hole.

Camber link in to third hole in.

2 degree caster block, 2 degree kick-up.

Low-Roll Center

2 on droop.

Plaid front tire (sauced 1/2)

Medium sway bar.

Rear

60 wt. oil, Congo blue spring. Shock layed into second hole.

Camber link longest possible setting.

Low Roll Center

Purple tire (sauced full).

O antidive.

No sway bar.

Battery forward and front diff very tight, rear a little looser (~1/8 out). Both arms in middle.

PLease help!!! Need car to be more stable from turn-in to apex. Planted, but not slow!!!

Todd, could you be a little more specific on your setup???

LOL-

I don't have a Losi, but it sure is nice to see some pro guys show up to help out. As you can see, this is fast becoming the "place to be" on the net in r/c world, especially for TCs.

Quick question Todd: If you're running inner shock limiters, does that mean you aren't using the droop screws?

Kickup- -2 Carrier-6
I am ssuming that it is a 4-degree caster block and a 2-degree kick-up to get 6 degrees caster? Or is there a 6-degree caster block?

Thanks again!!!

I will try some stiffer rear springs, the TC3s run very soft fronts and stiff rears and at one point another XXX-S driver was using purple on the back and silver on the front (but it handled like crap)
I'll go for a blue rear purple front combination at the beginning and continue from there
Thanks

Ray-He is running 6 degree caster blocks and a negative 2 degrees of kick up. this is acchived by using a 0F front block monted in the low roll center position and running the rear LRC blocks with .070 shims under them.

rayhuang, there are 6 degree caster blocks. Use these with the setup that Todd has mentioned.

Chad, I am not Todd but yes they were running the low roll center.

Big Dog Racing-That is correct. I just overlimit my shocks and then unscrew the shock eyelet to get the correct droop.

ChadK-Yes low in the rear.

Ray-ChadK hit it right on the head!

i run blue front/purple rear on tight car park tracks, purples all round on smoother permanent tracks, and the likes of carlisles super-dooper-grippy-but-kills-your-tires track i run blacks all round.

indoors on slippy floor i run purples all round. sometimes blacks, depends on surface. all on 60wt, and hpi no3 pistons (i use hpi threaded shocks (NOT THE PRO3 ONES!).)

Senna,

For 40 FM crystals try John Bull Racing.

If I don't have what you want in stock, I can have them within a matter of days.

You know where we are!

Regards

Joe.
