LouisB :: I thought the opposite about lowering the hinge pin.

Default Roll center

I've taken 3mm off the front and rear pivot blocks to lower the roll-center. I haven't driven the car yet but what handling differences should I expect?
When you do this you have actually raised the roll center, but Losi calls Low Roll Center when you lower the bottom hingepins-which is wrong.

OK now I think about it, it does raise the center of rotation
but still, what will it do to my car (or will I have to wait until my sunday race)

The lower the plates are to the chassis the more roll that end of the car will have.

moving the hingepins closer to the chassis lowers roll center. in general lower roll center is more steering off the corner, higher roll center is more steering into the corner.

isn't it the other way around?
by rising the hinge pins away from the chassis you can still have the same ride height but the suspension not as compressed as before so the suspension works better?

works better? raising the pins raises roll center it doesnt affect compression in that way

Also, if anyone is interested, a UK mag has printed up the set-ups of three of the Losi team drivers. One is foam on carpet, one is rubber on carpet and the other is rubber on asphalt. If anyone would like me to put them up here just ask
They are all race winning set-ups
Hey Louis, the lower the hinge pins are to the chassis the more roll that end of the car will have. As you go up(pivot blocks), roll is decreased. It's just like camber links, the higher the inside pivot point of a camber link(usaually on the shock tower) will give that end more roll-visaversa for lower camber links.

Louis, could you please post the rubber on asphalt setup. I'm dying to see something new. Thanks-Ralph

I wonder what degree the track was for that setup(Westly Payne's rubber on asphalt)?
