What I do is after the screw is seated, I tighten 1/8 to 1/4 turn at a time, rotate the outdrives like you're checking the diff action then hold (pinch) the outdrives between my thumb and index finger in 1 hand so they can't turn and try to rotate the diff gear with the other. I do this process until I can barely turn the diff gear.
You want to rotate the outdrives like your checking diff action so you don't flat spot the balls and rings in one place as you tighten the diff down.

Binding in the car? Out of the car? Are the 6 balls spaced evenly in the diff gear? Are the balls in the outdrive dimples on the backside? I just got one and will let you know when I get it together.

On the one-way questions. I had a problem with my outdrives after I installed the retaining rings because it squezed them a little and bound up on the ball. I took a flat file and removed a (very) small amount of material on both sides. It takes no time at all. Now everything is free. I built a second one this weekend for a friend and we didnt have the binding problem on the cvds but we did have a problem with a bind in the drivetrain. As we rotated the tires something would catch and bind up. I took the front end back apart and found that I had not completely tightened up the 3 screws that attach the bearings. I was worried about over tightening them but it is far worse to not have them totally tight. Once we tightened them all the way up everything was fine. BTW, we both have picked up over half a lap with the one-ways installed!!!
Now I have a question. What type of lube should be used on the one-way bearings? I used diff lube but was just wondering if there is something else I should be using?

Thanks Doug

i also had this with my kit. i thought i was the only one. i used another shock tower hole (not the stock setup) for the upper link so that i can thread the plastic ends deeper into the turnbuckle while still maintaining the correct camber.

Doug: thanks for the reply....

I took it all back apart and put it back together...works fine now...

Don't know what the issue was....if I was to guess, I would go with the 3 screws?????

Thanks......

now to find a good carpet set-up with it.....

I planned on taking the Andrew Gray set-up and doing a few changes...

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Tre's

Default Gearing/shock ?

I was thinking of starting with a 25 or 26 pinion with a new P2K2 Pro.

I have now 24-27 pinions.
running the 90t 48spur.
fairly tight LHS parking lot track
The LHS guy tells me I am crazy "Way too overgeared for running that setup. Drop to a 19 or 20"
What to do?
The P2K2# 28,262 120.8 watt,67.7 eff.,165 trq. Decent or dog?(I thought the RPM looked low)

Per the tip on the XXXS Tech page, I shortened the bottom shock eylets 1/8" and trimmed the top collar ring 1" springs.
Will this suffice until the threaded short shock kit arrives? Thanks Mike

All you can do is try. If the other cars are pulling you down the straight, then you need to go up a tooth. If they are pulling you in the infield, go down a tooth or so. You're running rubber tires right?
On carpet, with 58mm tires I'm running 24/90 with the same motor. I would think a 19 tooth or 20 would be too low.
Run some practice laps with someone else, and compare the speed. You might have to go as low as 22,23,24.
