I am thinking of getting either a

TAmiya EVO3 Surikarn Limited Edition -> $280USD

OR

Yokomo MR-4TC SD SSG Special -> $285USD

What do you guys rekon which one is better?

AS what I know EVO3 is out in the market earilier then the SD, and EVO4 is coming to the market around July.

While EVO3 Sk. ed. has more alu. parts then the SD SSG, however SD can change the spur with out removing the upper deck and also adjusting the diff externally.

SD SSG won the JMRCA comp on 2003, 9

Which one is more like a RTR competition car?
Which one is more easy for maintanenece / tune ?
Which one is lighter on weight?
Whiich one is stiffer?

I hear lots of Yokomo guys complaining about how their chassis are too flexable. I've heard no complaints from Evo drivers on that matter

I'd say a Yokomo with a Rayspeed conversion would be on par with an Evo III...They are very similar

I have owned both but the EVO III SE is the only one i still own as it handles better out of the box but the yokomo does have a better drivetrain.

Here in the UK all the yokomo team drivers are using the cheaper tub chassis car as it handles far better even if it is alittle on the heavy side.

I've never owned an SD so I can't comment on which is better. Performance-wise they should be about the same. But I would choose the SD because it's still Yokomo's flagship car where as Tamiya has the 415 and Evo4 they are busy with.

Can't coment on the pro's and con's of the evo3 as i haven't owen'd one.But i have a Rayspeed yokomo sd which is very nice.
IT's gotta go and i could post if we can come to an agreement PM me if your interested and i'll sort out some pic's real quick for you.

IT's a 6month old yokomo sd original chassis used twice
full RAYSPEED conversion
LOTS of graphite (i think everything that can be changed to graphite has,i also got all originals as spares)
Alloy sterring knuckles
Alloy wishbone mounts
etc etc !!

It really is very nice and in as new condition

Just got a question for you, after you have change the chassis to Rayspeed Conversion, Can you still use the organial upper deck instead the Rayspeed upper deck?

Also, do you know how much lighter does the Rayspeed Conversion, compared with the noraml SD SSG chassis?

What is the thickness of the Rayspeed Conversion?

Finially, want to know will a Rayspeed Version SD lighter weight, or a EVO3 Surikarn Limited Edition lighter weight?

You cannot use the upper deck from the regular SD because the steering mounts holes are in different places.

Weight should not be a problem with this car.

Everything is 3mm.

Sorry don't know much about weight compared to an Evo just know mine was always under the BRCA minimium of 1500grams fully loaded and ready to race so i always had to add weights :+(
