The track i'm running at changed a little. It used to be semi-technical track with wide turns and even wider straights. Now they have narrowed it down all around. My final drive was 5.0 so I could take advantage of the wide course and get some speed and momentum. Now with the change, i'm just in the way. Would it be better to try a final drive of say 5.32? And other than actual gear size, is there an advantage or disadvantage to running 48 pitch vs 64 pitch?

Gear ratio and final drive are dependent on track size and layout. The best advice would be to find out what the faster guys are running. Speedo settings will make a huge difference as well. As far as 64 v. 48. 64 pitch will allow you to make finer adjustments in your gear ratio on a single spur. One tooth is alot bigger adjustment with 48p than it is with 64p.

One guy I talked to said he is running a fd of 5.31. one guy said he is running a fd of 5.29. With the gears I have I can try a 5.32.
