velcro battery straps
do they work that good? or what do you guys use..
as you will see in my bottom pic, i had used a large ziptie to strap my battery down tight. at least i thought it was tight. until today when i was ripping it around a corner and the battery slid out.. and pulled out my receiver cables and ripped the receiver right off its base. im lucky that the receiver was able to be put back together and still works.. the velcro or w/e i will use to tie the battery down has to be long enough to run under the chassis and back up and strap down super tight. http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/g...R/P5064271.jpg |
Velcro strapping would still allow the battery to slide out. Just use stick-on weights that are shaped like the battery slots in your chassis on the underside of the battery to locate it and keep it from sliding.
http://www.hudy.net/xhudy/news/newsd...da856b13a8a3e5 Or if you do not want to add weights since your'e using a nimh pack, cut out some thick plastic(like Kydex) to fit in the slots and stick them to your battery pack. As far as strapping the battery pack in, just use strapping tape. You may need to use two thinner straps just so you can clear the battery wires coming out from the end of the pack. If you're concerned about looks, look for the r/c specific black or blue battery tape. Don't forget to fold the overlapping ends over so it will make it easier to unstrap. |
This has nothing to do with the battery strap, just about your plugs. Are those real deans? If so check the polarity on the plug. I think you have the +- reversed. This won't be a problem if your only using your equipment for now. But if you end up at a track and need to borrow a battery pack your going to fry something. Also, most good packs are now coming with deans attached, ie Orion Rocket pack lipos, these will have the plugs on the right way and will fry your electronics as soon as you plug it in.
Check those and make sure they are the right way. | - <---is the plug, the | is the + and the - is the -. |
yes they are real deans.
everything i have is wired backwards :D ive never taken the time to unsolder everything and resolder it all i like the plastic idea.. ill figure something like that out. |

Lighter then NiMh, you can use strapping tape to use. Most new type chassis Strapping tape is used. Lipo has better punch!! on Brushless systems. |

some 1mm or thicker chassis protector tape also works great to attach to batteries and key them into the slots like freakah mentioned

if i switch to lipo...
those batteries are light enough that just regular electrical tape would hold that battery in place?? |

lipos weigh a lot less than nimh packs i take it

i originally bought that exact 3racing strap for this project car.
but i never used it for 2 reasons.. first you have to drill thru the cf to install it. which i didnt really care to do and secondly, with the posistioning of the upper cf deck and the receiver in front, there wasnt enough room to get it installed. |
