Micro Vs. MiniZ
#16
have any of you guys driven the F1 mini z? they just came out in our lhs. its more expensive than the sedan mini zs but it has a longer wheelbase and the 4 batteries sit lower on the chassis. my concern is that the front arms and front wing may be prone to damage.

They have a protecter for the front so that when you crash the front wing dosn't break(hint : don't run it without the protector cause the wing breaks really easily). It is very very low and you won't be able to run over anything without it getting caught up on it. (Read it in a review but I can't remember where the review was from) Other then that it looks awsome.

Well personally I am going to wait for the 4wd HPI car,the mini z looks like a tyco car to me.
I just think a 4 wd car would be easier to drive being as they are so small.

do you know of any 1/24 plastic static model body that directly fits the mini z?

Saw a couple of Micros at our local indoor carpet track this weekend. They seem to be pretty good and a lot more "driveable" than the Mini Z. One guy put a five-cell nitro receiver pack in his and the little car was fast. I can these becoming a popular racing class. Still, it's going to take some bucks to get them set up right (small servo and small electrics, good batts, etc.).

I drove the RS4 Micro today, Man those things rock. I am very tempted it get one of those. It handles much like a touring car, and is a blast to drive. HPI had a great "testing" track setup at the Chicago Hobby Show.

So do you guys want this moved, or what?

dcracer - definately... I drove it just like i would any touring car. It handled great and didn't spin out unless i tried purposly ( it was on carpet though ). They were realy cool and seamed to hld a charge for a long time. I didn't hang out at the HPI booth for too long, but i don't think i ever saw one die, or one getting re-charged. I'm sure they had to re-charge them a couple times during the day though.

I did get a chance to test this car, yes! it's fast if you put some rechargeable AA 1600 mah, there NiMi, from radio shack it comes with a overnight charger for about 30 or so.
But i had found that the car does not go straight even if you adjust your steering trim, there's too much slop, But what you expect, right!
