So if I understand it right Tamiya does not make a gear diff.

Very soon Tamiya must be presenting a FWD up to TRF spec. Carbon chassie Aluminium bulkheads etc. If not I have to go elsewhere for a FWD. But I think they will have some good news in May.

For the Spec R gear diff, what was the consensus for the best diff oil for a tight carpet track?

I'm trying to decide between 100k and 300k.

Dont bother.

The Spec R diffs are absolute rubbish ... very unreliable

I already have the diff. The factory diff is destroyed (broken outdrives, etc.)

The internal gears are too fragile (even their better version)

We were racing at TIITC in Thailand last month and the Tamiya guys were destroying diffs very easily.

There is a solution. There is a Kyosho diff that will fit in the FF03 but I do not have its details. (it comes from a Short Course truck I believe) It has metal gears and is far stronger

I run a Spec-R gear diff in my FF-03 Pro and it's been brilliant. I used a Speed Passion Cirtix 17.5 BL motor and Stock Spec ESC.

yes...we used it...nice performance... already 3 races done and still good, btw Mr. Lau gave a thumbs up for winning picture ...

it's because you run 17.5BL motor and non timing speedo ...
give a try with 10.5T BL and open esc/timming esc, i don't what it called " a superstock touring class".... give your spec-R gear diff a chance... and share wit us what happened ..

We don't run a class with those specs. Our top class is 4wd sedan with 17.5 BL and boosted ESC.

is it a direct fit into a stock ff03

yes... 3 racing balldiff could be fit in a standard gearbox case of FF03..and i just use 52T original plastic gear diff from tamiya...and I like the Balldiff screw+nut...it's bigger and look like TRF model..
