Looking at setting an FF03 Evo up for USGT. Any pointers? What are the weight specs? The rules allow 1200 for FWD and wanted to see if this attainable.

Mine is 1185 without a body, half aluminum half titanium screws, but otherwise race ready. Mines going to be right at 1300 TCS legal.

Does anyone run a shorty to get better battery placement? Seem to move it more forward or rearward?

I use a shorty at the rear to get more weight on the rear wheels to have more stability. Also tried it to move forward to get more traction, but than lost too much rear traction/grip.
Just try to get the best balans on your own track.

Default New FF03 for USGT

Hey guys. Been toying around with picking one of these up to run USGT with. I like the idea of the 250g weight advantage with a FF car. I am a pretty serious racer and want this kit to be fast, consistent, and reliable. I have not read this whole thread only the last 30 pages or so.

Here is what I am looking at picking up.
FF03 Pro
Carbon reinforced lower deck
Carbon Fiber rear shock tower
Carbon Fiber steering rack
ta06 gear diff
Some type of CVA's, prefferably DCJ's
SS or Ti Screw kit (I don't like phillips)
Sway bars
Tamiya Golf 24 Body

Does this seem like the essentials for a fast consistent FF03? Any help/advise would be great.

Oh and what do I need to convert to 64p spur? Will RR spur gears work?

Thanks fellas!

Default FF03 Double Deck chassis kit

Wade,

If your going to buy all that new, I would think the new FF03 Double Deck chassis kit (see post above at Speedtech) would be the way to go. It looks like a much more competitive setup.

I have an FF03 Pro with 3Racing chassis conversion (fiberglass) and Spec-R gearbox - weighs in around 1250grams with Protek 3000 2S (same size as a 1S battery) and I still don't have the speed of the 4WD cars in USGT, it is a fun car to drive though.

The weight break isn't enough to make it competitive with 4w.

IMO.

Thanks for the responses.

The fancy double deck kit is $$$... I am able to pick up a NIB Pro kit very cheap so that is why I am leaning that way. I will spend under $200 with all the hop ups included.

This is more of a for fun car for me. I don't think it would be competitive at a National or anything. Leave that to the Russian machines who are killing the stock classes right now. It would be more of an extra addition to the RC garage.

I'll post up pics and results if I pull the trigger on it.

Same here, where I race you will have a good finishing position if you can keep it off the boards, more of a fun experiment then racer.
