Yep, same wheelbase as the Civic but the HPI Focus is 200mm wide compared to the standard 190mm.

I run that body and use extra wide hexes on the axles.

Thinking about picking up a Castrol Civic FF03 kit, what are the must-have upgrades to get? Probably going to go for the basic Tamiya TEU101BK ESC Tamiya Sport Tuned motor as I have them leftover from an M05 kit.

When people talk about runnin non boosted 17.5, is it implied that can timing is set at 0?

Nope, they tweek the snot out of the can timing as much as possible.

There is also the rear shock tower in graphite, OP-1258. I have this plus the steering belcrank on my FF-03 already.

My FF-03 is now complete and I have my new body painted (thanks to Bodywerx) and mounted.

I am fortunate to have a very talented local body painter who did the work. I'm racing her for sure and am waiting on my Tamiya rubber now to be 100% TCS Canada compliant.

What parts are necessary to widen my car for a 200mm body to fit on there? How does the car handle with those mods?

You guys have to watch the Tamiya World Champs 2010 going on right now. Link at tamiya usa site. The FF03s are awesome. ...and my not so new setup.

yup. the FF class race is great!

apparently their choice of body shells in the A final are either the Beams Integra or the Subaru Impreza Hatchback...
