Hi Andy,

HB Narrow chassis felt great but to be honest have not tested back to back with standard or Smokem that I have. If I get a chance I will do so.
Top plate is std kit, not the optional one.
Shock towers are also standard. I am not convinced yet I need the lower version and I hate the look of the front shock tower with the middle body post holes.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

They lasted about 10 packs, which is a bit of a bummer. I didn't expect it to break so quickly coz I only drift with my TCX. Tho I do run a 3.5T....
here's how mine broke. 17.5 boosted class

YIKES!!! I've been running the same set of DCJ's for years with a spool and now with a putty filled gear diff. They are a little slopped out, but feel smooth on the track. How long did you get out of it before it let go?

Maybe about 7-8 months. I've cleaned and grease them everyother raceday. Been running it with the spool when it gave out. I bought 2 extras and very noticable play with old vs new.
I also run a gear diff with putty and a little oil now so to put less strain on the drivetrain.

John, did you drill a hole in your spur gear? Are you removing your top deck to adjust your gear mesh?

not answering for him...but i know I've found it easier to remove the top deck to adjust the gera mesh...

I run 17.5 blinky with mine, so i normally have 100T or less in mine - and even the one 100t I have with the holes (like the stock one), i still can't easily adjust the gear mesh...one screw is always 'just outside' where i can reach with my wrench

Correct that is how I adjusted it by removing the top deck but I do not recomend for frequent ratio changes as all the trouble ain't worth it. For me it is OK as I only race at tracks that require same FDR.

Main reason I chose these spurs is that being black they always look clean...

I'm thinking of getting a TCX how does it fair against the Schumacher Mi4?

Jim.

Funny I just ordered a MI4CX....just to test setups...
but I will say my HB TCX is the best car I've ever had...and for those who know me...I've tried them all.

the TCX is the most stable and predictable car to drive.
Responds to the slightest changes (good in my book)
you won't need much as far as option parts.
steel front bones. is a must.
and HPI spring set.
that is all you'll need for a starting base.

Try a ball-end 2mm wrench. It works fine on my 100T spur and I don't have to remove the topdeck to set the mesh.

Good luck.

Ordered a set of Spec R spring steel HB 46mm swing shafts for the front of the car.

What are people experience with these running a spool compared to say the exotek ones?
